King Charles III and Commonwealth Secretary General, Baroness Scotland of Asthal,

I have it set to record but I am usually up at least twice in the night so will probably see the start .
I would love to be over there right now with all the celebrations.
We need it to brighten this world we are living in right now.

The Royals have united at a massive family dinner ahead of the coronation tomorrow at a luxury private club.

Prince Andrew joined his children, and the Tindalls, Princess Anne and her husband, the Kents and the Wessexes at Mayfair club Oswald's, which is owned by British entrepreneur Robin Birley.

Birley also owns and runs 5 Hertford Street, which is where controversial couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had their first date.

The longest-serving heir to the throne in British history will tomorrow be crowned at Westminster Abbey in a ceremony that is steeped in the majesty of his illustrious forebears – but also embraces and emphasises the proud diversity of modern-day Britain.

Tomorrow's Coronation will see 7,000 servicemen and women accompanying Their Majesties, making it the country's biggest ceremonial event since 1953.

So despite not being invited to the Coronation with all the rest of them , Prince Andrew has still managed to be part of it..😕

Prince Michael and Princess Michael of Kent.. prince Michael is Queen Elizabeth's first cousin and works a lot for the royal family behind the scenes.. altho' now in their 80's

It would seem by appearing for dinner with Prince Andrew the night before the Coronation, the family are giving the signal they support him...

Incidentally for anyone who wishes to know.. Princess Anne will be in uniform tomorrow at the Coronation... not in a dress..

Princess Anne will serve as Gold-Stick-in-Waiting, a bodyguard in the Royal Household, during the Coronation procession. She will follow on horseback behind Charles and Camilla in the procession from the Abbey to Buckingham Palace.

She said in an interview she was asked to do it, and was more than happy, because it solved the eternal question of what she would wear...😄

It is lovely to see displays of affection between some of the Royal couples, heads of state. How do the ladies manage to stand for so long on those high heels? Some of them are not young. I imagine them sitting down taking off their shoes if only for a few minutes.

Crowning

The Archbishop will bring the St Edward's Crown from the altar and place it on the King's head, who will be seated in the Coronation Chair, holding the two sceptres.

The crown is only ever used at the moment of crowning, and was created for the coronation of Charles II in 1661, making it one of the oldest symbols of the British monarchy.

The St Edward's Crown, the centrepiece of the Crown Jewels

It is a replacement of an earlier medieval crown that was melted down by parliamentarians in 1649 after the execution of King Charles I, during the English Civil War.
The crown features a solid gold frame, weighs 2.23kg and is adorned with 444 precious stones. It features four crosses pattee and four fleurs-de-lis, and the arches are surmounted by a cross.

Gun Salutes

From military bases in all corners of the country - including at firing stations in Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast, and on His Majesty’s ships at sea - gun salutes will sound out to herald the moment when the King is crowned.
Featuring more than 400 personnel across 13 locations and deployed Royal Navy ships, 21 rounds will fire to mark the Coronation.
Meanwhile, a 62 round salute and a six-gun salvo will fire at both the Tower of London and Horse Guards Parade.

Enthronement

After the crowning, the King will be escorted from the Coronation Chair and to the throne, symbolically taking possession of his kingdom.

hollydolly - thanks for all that lovely information.

Didn't Prince Philip also have German blood in him? The Battenbergs? That's why WWI was so crazy, they were all related! BTW, in some of the pictures you posted Charles bears an amazing resemblance to his mother! Did you notice?
No he was Danish actually, altho' he was always nicknamed Phil the Greek, because he was born the son of the Prince of Greece and Denmark and actually raised and schooled in the UK. ironically he was more Royal than the Queen

His sister married a German
