The Coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla

Yes Tish..good question... in fact the only second joint coronation in British Royal History... the first 334 years ago...

In 1689, King William III and Queen Mary II were crowned as joint Sovereigns for the first and only time.

This between Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, will only be the second ever...

..as an extra snippet..

The earliest English coronation that is recorded in detail, although not the first, is the crowning of the Anglo-Saxon King Edgar in Bath in 953 CE.
( for those who may not know what CE means after a date.. it stands for Current Era ( and replaces AD... and BCE.. stands for Before Current Era and replaces BC )
Thank you so much for answering, I can't believe we watched such a historic event, it's mind-blowing.

Charles looks so emotional, he has been waiting for years to become king, yet you can see in his eyes how much he misses The Queen and Prince Philip.

You can't blame the man, Chic, he cut the ceremony
back to about half of the plan, in order to save money,
the "Establishment", mainly civil servants organise all
of the proceedings.

We all knew that he was King, the second that his Mother
died, the coronation is an unnecessary party/parade to let
the people feel that they are part of it.

He and Camilla, both looked tired, their day probably started
around 5AM, then after such a long and tedious, Church Service,
he tried to get it even smaller, but was outvoted, he was just part
of the proceedings.

So once every 70 years they have a huge ceremony that costs 125 million. The population of Great Britain is 67 million. They could have taken that money and passed it around to the citizens and they could have each had 1.8 pounds. I think most would have enjoyed the pageant more than that bit of money. Great Britain provides housing and welfare money in huge numbers and FREE medical care to all. I wouldn't complain.

It would be a nightmare for a person with my socio-phobic tendencies! I kept thinkin all through the ceremony: the poor man! Maybe that might be behind the "sad?" :)
Oh no, he's very much a man of the people. I just think he was probably tired.. ( he's 74).. having spent the last few weeks touring the country meetting thousands of people.. then having to be doing all the ''Kinging'' which of course is a lot of work dealing with all sorts of bureaucracy..and , his problems with his younger son, and all the Hoo-Ha over that... and finally the emotion of the day , as well as the fact his ''dear Mama'' has only been dead 7 months

My last sentence was a feeble attempt at humor, that's why the smiley, but I was serious about thinking "poor man!" :)

I have to say you Brits really know how to put on a show, most impressive of my lifetime. Congrats, very well done!

I've thought about that, it does probably weigh on his mind, all of this wouldn't have been possible without her passing.

I watched several videos on the coronation including Prince Harry. What's really happening here. Is the wife helping to isolate him from his family?

yes ..she is.. absolutely.. but at the end of the day.. he's a grown man he should have had more sense, but I'm sure by the time he realised what was happening, if he's even admitted that she's a manipulator par excellence she was already giving birth, so he just has to get on with it now.. .
