The Debt Ceiling

I hope this isn’t taken as political. It’s just me doing a little ranting. Parts of the new debt ceiling plan are understandable and agreeable. However, it seems that each time the budget or the debt ceiling on a money spending bill is raised in Congress, the VA and VA benefits gets cut. It’s not a perfect or even a good system now. This is the reason that for other than purchasing medications, I don’t use it.

Back when I tried the VA, I would get a different doctor each time I would go there. I guess there’s a reasonable answer for that, but I found life to be better if I had the same doctor tor each time. It’s kind of like changing barbers. They have to learn how I like my hair cut before they satisfy me. That can take anywhere from 6-12 months.

Not only cutting VA benefits, why doesn’t Medicare ever get anything added to it? I’m not on Medicare, but guys in my poker club talk about it all the time. They say that nothing has been added to Medicare for years. One gentleman made the comment that he shouldn’t have to buy an Advantage package to get glasses and dental coverage. I thought all Seniors got that, but I guess I was wrong. I know Medicare and Social Security eat a big part of the budget, but I also have heard that Congress has borrowed billions from those agencies. How did we allow that to happen?

Finally, we also included a truck of money for Ukraine. Really?

Thank you.

Advantage Plan members pay for those extras by giving up the freedom to choose doctors, especially specialists, if they have a bad illness. They have to jump through hoops and risk hearing the word NO. Medicare is also having money problems. Worse than SS money problems.

The reality is we only got this agreement because no one party is all powerful. I live in a one party rule state. Nobody will say NO to a tax increase. One party rule is awful, and I don’t care which party is ruling. Avoid it if all possible

I think the majority of negotiations are about who gets how many kickbacks. With a few exceptions they are unconcerned about benefits for the citizens.

I think you got it right. Too many politicians seem to get rich or richer in a short amount of time. I really don’t like the idea of having party’s. I think each candidate should run on his points of view and be elected on merit. Each party has a platform that each person who is a member of that party has to be vested in, whether they agree with it or not. That would be hard for me to do.

No matter what Washington does with the "debt ceiling" issue....they will just be pushing the problems further into the future. Washington is just like a irresponsible individual who runs up excessive amounts of debt....eventually "bankruptcy" becomes the Only option.

I don't see where they are cutting any VA benefits.

I go to the VA and, like you said I have had about 6 different Doctors. That said I do like the VA but as we don't have a VA hospital near my city, I do need to have a primary doctor outside of my VA doctor.

"Congress has borrowed billions from those agencies. How did we allow that to happen?"

We didn't. Congress simply wrote & approved legislation that allows it.

"we also included a truck of money for Ukraine. Really?"

We've seized Russian assets in the US and are holding them. They'll be used (it's said) to repay ourselves and to help rebuild Ukraine. That said, Ukraine is rich in marketable natural resources and I'm sure the US plans to modernize, streamline, and tap into all that after the war.

We did. If we do like the young people do, riot, burn, break stuff, steal and kill, you get what you want. It seemed to work for them.

Sanctions? Oh, that’s a whole different book to write about. Now, we even have states writing sanctions. Sanctions are kind of a 2 way street. The country doesn’t get what it needs from us, but we lose billions of dollars in exports. So, ask yourself again. Do sanctions really work? Are they all that successful?

Rejoice! Rejoice! Washington has raised the debt ceiling at the last minute (surprise, surprise)! Now, we can go even FURTHER into debt.
And....if this nonsense continues, it won't be long before the only solution will be to devalue the dollar....and then, most of us will struggle to afford groceries.
