The Desire To Eat Out Is Fading Away

As a long lived food lover and currently living surrounded by many eateries I find my interest in exploring new places is dwindling. As lunch or dinner time approach I ponder which new place to try then apathy creeps up and I make something from the fridge or cupboard. I simply don't crave certain foods anymore. I don't think my taste buds have changed much so maybe it is most of the new places I try don't live up to the internet hype.

I find I am opposite. For a long time, Rick and I would eat out about once a month. Nothing high class, but good food. After his cancer surgery last year, he never really sprung back, and had issues with mobility. Never wanted to go out. I kind of missed out dinner dates. After he passed, I started back up. I may not go monthly, but in the almost 7 months he has been gone, I have gone out 4-5 times.
Some people find it odd that I enjoy eating out alone, but I do not mind.

The hubby and I hardly ever eat out. Once in awhile to IHop on seniors night so the hubby can load up on pancakes and all the goop they put on top. A buffet in Atlantic City about twice a year.
When we took a road trip across country to visit our daughter we had to eat out every single night. Both of us began to notice that it didn't matter what we ate or where we stopped, all the food started to taste the same.
One evening we stopped in a supermarket and picked up a can of soup, a loaf of bread and some peanut butter. I heated the soup in the coffeemaker, there was no stove in the motel, and we both thought it was the most delicious meal we had in days.
After that we did it quite often.

I had lunch with a friend last month and really enjoyed it as I hadn't been out for a meal in quite awhile. Over the past several years, however, I haven't gone out to restaurants much. I think it's mainly because I can't bring my doggy along!;) In some places you can bring a dog in. I understand it could get a bit troublesome with a bunch of dogs wanting to do dog things but still...

fmdog, try a chain of restaurants in Houston called "Local Foods". Several locations. Casual. They have fresh colorful healthy foods. 4.6 rating out of 5. ....$$ Maybe you'll change your mind. Check out their online food pics

Thanks for the tip but I just looked at their website and 4 out of 5 locations are downtown and the fifth just west of downtown. I avoid heavy traffic whenever possible. I live very close to the Vintage Park on Louetta north of downtown and that place is restaurant heaven.
