The evolution of dance

Well, the 'Jive' could of originated by bare footed people having to walk on hot surfaces, then of course, the 'Rumba', let me just say this, when I've been dying for a pee, I can 'Rumba' as good as anyone..... well that my two penneth... 😊

The evolution of dance
Looking even further back:

The natural impulse to dance may have existed in early primates before they evolved into humans. Dance has been an important part of ceremony, rituals, celebrations and entertainment since before the birth of the earliest human civilizations. Archaeology delivers traces of dance from prehistoric times such as the 10,000-year-old Bhimbetka rock shelters paintings in India and Egyptian tomb paintings depicting dancing figures from c. 3300 BC. Many contemporary dance forms can be traced back to historical, traditional, ceremonial and ethnic dances of the ancient period.

Each to their own, but I'm not a fan of most current popular dance styles that began rising in the 1950s and then dominated by mid 70s as Disco rose. Some like this person danced with old jazz styles at rock concerts and venues during the early Classic Rock era, but that changed by mid 70s with the rise of Disco I still loath. Notice how older 20s/30s era styles popularized at Hollywood were mainly bilateral naturally rhythmic lower body leg and foot oriented like tap and jazz dancing while post 50s styles have been waist to upper body and become bizarrely gymnastic with Rap.

What I noticed thru all the dance styles from the 1900's to now was there were no fat people dancing. And from being fully dressed to less dressed beginning in the 70's. The music was upbeat & far from depressing.
I didn't see any clips of couples dancing to rap. If there are any out there that someone can post a video of I'd like to see what it looks like.

Dancing to rap ? I couldn’t even listen to it, always think they missed a c off the spelling to be honest....

Anyway, I cannot find any couples dancing to it but, this is how it’s done, apparently

I think the term ā€œrap musicā€ is an oxymoron.

Thanks. After watching that I was chuckling to myself visualizing couples dancing to that demonstration.

Now do it fast, without landing on your keester .. lol

Below on Youtube is an example of improvisational bilateral naturally rhythmic lower body leg and foot oriented jazz dancing. My own fast style as a Classic Rock fan is a bit different while the expanded 3-dimensional body awareness is the same. Dance like that for decades and one can do amazing things that just flows out naturally. People dance so not generally as a show for audiences as with many other dance styles, but because the fun exhilarating visceral feelings much like advanced skiers enjoy with rhythmic short turning. These same styles evolved in such popular bilateral forms as tap, Charleston, Lindy Hop, Irish set, and swing styles.
