The FDA- Food and Drug Administration

Do you, in general, trust the FDA? imp

The FDA has a monumental task...trying to keep track of all the food and drug issues. One of the things that "detracts" from their ability to do their job in an impartial manner is the fact that about half their funding comes from "user fees" imposed on the drug companies...and probably some of the major food producers. To me, that would indicate a bit of a lean towards the drug companies, and corporations like Monsanto, with its GMO food products. Many of the FDA approved products we consume are banned in some other nations.

The FDA does not do there own research the drug companies give them the result of there finding. They of course will not give them studies that are negative to what they want passed. The FDA has two standards if you bring out a drug that kills 1/2 million people you get a small fine but if you try and sell raw milk they will come in with guns drawn and shut you down. What ever you do do not claim that anything other than a drug can cure because this will get you thrown in jail. If you were to say that water can cure dehydration they would go after you.

This may not appear to relate to the FDA but they're all connected,
$$$$$$$$$ and the tie that binds is the Almighty Dollar $$$$$$$$$

The path which most prescription drugs take would tend to indicate that the FDA is of marginal worth. The drug companies announce a new "approved" drug, the TV is saturated with glowing ads, the doctors go overboard in prescribing it, and it provides some "masking" of the illness. Five or ten years later, the drug side effects start taking effect, killing people. Then, the lawyers take over and win their massive class action lawsuits, and the TV is then full of ads telling people to call some 800 number to get their share of the largess. It seems to be a huge racket that is very successful in making the drug companies and lawyers rich...while fleecing the general public out of billions of dollars, and causing large numbers of people to suffer worse than if nature were allowed to take its course.
