The Final End Approaches!

No one really knows when they will die. The only thing we do know is that we CEASE TO EXIST at death and can never feel pain, suffer financially or socially or be disabled. I think that everyone over age 70 or having a terminal illness should be allowed Medical Aid In Dying (MAID). 12 American states have MAID as well as many nations other than the USA.
I completely agree with you. We should ALL have the opportunity to ā€˜die with dignity,’ which is what MAID offers. Maid is one of the charities I sponsor.

Didn't you know the aging and dying processes by observing your parents or grandparents or close relatives?
First, these programs are rich with the potential for abuse.
Second, are we so devoid of character today that we must be coddled by government through every step of our lives from birth through death?
Third, aren't we taxed enough already?

Sorry, I lost my train of thought. Do not want to get political.

Hey, George,
You said:

For my wife and me will be what happens after our last breath the most exiting journey ever.

.. which might be more easily understood as:

For my wife and me, what happens after our last breath will be the most exciting journey ever.

The problem was the confusion between the words 'exiting' and 'exciting'. I so admire you, George, for having mastered a second language.
And you have mastered it.
It is something I could never do, and God knows I've tried
Thank you for your suggestion how to write it. I'm always open to such kind of critical comments.

And thank you for your compliments too.

"Survival to 100: Only about 6.9% of women alive at 90 are expected to reach 100, with that probability being roughly half for men."
So to me that says you have a 4 in 100 chance of making it to age 100, not 1 in 8000. That number you're using probably starts at birth and includes everything from childhood diseases to wars. You need to start your chances at age 90. considering that you have already made it past all those perils and proven yourself as careful and healthy person.

there's another viewpoint maybe more - why do people need assistance for dying - just let it come and pass that's all - don't need all the expense and technology and drama?? Pain can be well controlled these days etc etc

Up above, George said this: "I am German and my last English lessons at senior high school were in the late 1970s."

I wonder if George ever sings "Deutschland Uber Alles" or is that song banned in Germany today? I heard that the German Air Force still sings it today as their anthem even though all Nazi songs and symbols are banned in Germany today. It's possible that the AFD (Alternative For Deutschland) party may still sing it.

Don't forget a wine too.

My wife read that Agatha Christie said:
"My husband is an archeologist. This is good for me, because the older I get, the more interesting I become for him".

New York State just passed it’s version of the MAID law, it goes into effect in August of this year.

I will be watching with interest to see how effective it is in helping people to end their suffering and reduce their final expenses.

Personally, I can’t wait for the day when people are allowed to have a pill or injection on hand that will end their suffering.

Just having such an immediate option available to me would be enough to give me the strength and peace of mind to keep me going for another day.
