I'm told this is a new proposal. I couldn't find anything online about it being proposed in congress or whatever. And this one specifically is not a new idea but I could live with it. I like it.

Maybe this is wishful thinking on my part but I think it's a gag. I mean, the only sites I've seen it on are gag and humor sites, and none of them are saying who is proposing this.

Sunday has historically been considered the first day of the week because Saturday is the seventh day (the Sabbath).

I found this calendar and a few others in a science article. This one went before congress a long time ago....1880-something. I forget the scientist who proposed it but the name of his sponsor stuck with me - George Eastman, the Kodak film founder. So not a gag, but the person who told me about it thought it was just now up for review before congress (or whatever...I don't know who gets to change time), but I don't think so. Coincidentally, it was not adopted back then for the very reason you mentioned - people didn't like the 7th falling on a Saturday.
