The frozen north, eh?

We live in central B. C. (Canada) at 53 N latitude. Today it was 107F and tomorrow is predicted to be 109F. The last time we saw these temps was when we lived in southern Arizona. Fortunately, we had central A/C installed in 2006 so we are fine. I recall some who thought it was silly at the time.

I just said this to my brother, who is in Seattle, doesn’t have AC, and temps are over a hundred. He replied “no such thing a global warming.” His color now matches his political party.😉😆

I replied “sure there is no global warming AT MY HOUSE, I put in central air two weeks ago”. 😂😂😂

I just call it super hot and a lot of people may die. My mother lives in Seattle and was hospitalized, hmm, 3 days ago for heat exhaustion and it’s getting hotter there. At 96, she is calling it something else. 🤣
 
Yes indeed, it's been a hot couple of days, much hotter than Canada typically sees. Records are being broken everywhere.

We have central-air as well. I spent the later part of the morning outside gardening yesterday, and by 12:30, was so dragged out by the heat I had to come in.

Would like to finish today, so will be going out for another round in the next short while, then back inside to have a refreshing lukewarm shower, and enjoy the remainder of the day inside where we keep the temp around 17°C - 18°C, or 63°F.

According to the weather report, this "heat dome", as weather forecasters and news reporters have been dubbing it, is expected to last through until the weekend before things settle back down to normal. I'm just hoping and praying that we don't start seeing mass forest fires on account.

We are starting to see fires here, and we have a severe drought as well, weather over 100 degrees, it is goi g to get so much worst.☹️

I know, hubby and I run hot. :)

In the dead of winter we set the thermostat to 9°C before going to bed, and crack the bedroom window through the night. Nothing better than a quality European goose-down duvet, and sleeping in a room with fresh air coming in helps me wake feeling less groggy.

That's right...Climate Change is a more accurate description. Some places are experiencing extremes, while others are not....and that continues to "Change". There are so many factors affecting the climate that even the most experienced Climatologists are having trouble making any accurate predictions.

One thing is for sure...we have already reached the "tipping point" whereby there is little we can do to stop or reverse these trends.

Just as the US is seeing hordes of immigrants coming from South/Central America, Canada and Alaska may someday see a huge influx of people migrating North, to get away from the heat and drought that is surely coming.
 
These days it is pretty hard times for some people:
1. As we lift the restrictions on Covid-19, the people who said we would have to wear those diapers forever are surprised.
2. People who said there is no climate change sure are surprised if they live in BC or the US SW with temperatures reaching in the mid 40s C or 120 F.
Guess you can't be right all the time. They should have listened to a young Bob Dylan who told us back in the 60s that "the times they are a changing."

I run hot as well. All curtains closed and I’ve had to go down to 68 degrees in the house, just to hot.

My brother, who lives in Seattle with no AC, still maintains there is no climate change as he slowly melts into a puddle. 😂
 
I'm in central FL where AC is a must but my summertime thermostat stays about 82 and with ceiling fans, I'm quite comfortable. It's all about acclimation. As far as numbers go, we rarely go higher than mid 90s.
 
We had a feels like 41C (105.8F) today but we've just had major thunderstorms so it will cool down sometime tomorrow. Glad we have air conditioning although sitting in the backyard with a breeze was nice. I don't really mind the hotter weather - it's the humidity that kills me.
