The Great Freeze of ‘63

I remember having to trudge to school through that..I was 8 years old. We'd be dressed in coat, hat and scarf, and have to line up at the kitchen door to be given a spoonful of Malt out of a huge jar before we left to go walking in the snow... *shudder at the malt* :D

I remember also that my baby sister has just been born.. and we lived in a prefab...

We lived in Scotland so it was just about worse than anywhere in the country. The snow was up to our thighs , and my mother would never dream of walking us to school..

I was 16 at the time and still living in Kuwait so I missed all that! :)

I do remember as a younger child, when still living in England, being given a spoonful of cod liver oil and malt each morning during the winter months.... I loved it. :D

I remember that very well. We returned to England after four years in Cyprus. As we descended from the skies, the land looked like a patchwork quilt...snowy fields bounded by hedges. We left a warm, sunny country to be met with a frozen sea and mountains of snow.

Smartest thing I ever did was leave Chicago in 79 and move to Houston. (Getting ready for a tropical storm to make landfall soon) No snow shovel required.
