The HARP

I got a harp not too long ago because I have always wanted to learn to play one. It's not a full-size harp, just a 29 string harp from Amazon but for my purposes, that's sufficient.

It is so much easier to play than the piano or any other instrument I have played because its strings are color-coded. Once you memorize the colored string, everything else is easy. I was able to play songs within days, but of course I know music, and maybe that's why. It's also very easy to tune (as compared to a piano!). Its sound is beautiful. So if I can do it, so can you! :)

Maybe that is something to think about later for me, but I move around so much, it will have to be when I settle down in France again. I play the piano, both by ear and I read music, but I travel with my flute. :)

That's wonderful, Shero! Music has lifted my spirits like no other activity in life. Yes, it's hard to play the harp if you're moving around!

I also play the piano by ear and read music. I think I got that from my father's side. He could pick up any instrument and play it. The flute is also one of my favorite instruments! It has such a beautiful sound. I have never been able to play it though, whenever I tried to, because I ran out of breath and became lightheaded. A sister of mine did play the flute in high school. :)

I love Vollenweider! I used to listen to him all the time. Didn't know he designed and built his own electric harp!
It's interesting how I was introduced to his music.
I never heard of him, I was browsing in a CD store & saw "White Winds" with that mysterious picture on the front & something just told me, "Buy it; you'll love it." After hearing it, I went back to the store & bought ALL his CD's.
