Suited for those who enjoy Halloween, stories of ghost haunted states in America. My state has the Stanley Hotel that was in Stephen King's "The Shining"....more here.

As Halloween approaches, we were swapping ghost stories around the ol’ PEOPLE offices. Though we’re based in New York, staffers here come from all over, and so it got us thinking about what we like to call the Haunted States of America: What “ghost story” defines your state?

This infographic is assembled from a variety of sources – in some cases, it’s the “most famous” ghost in each state, in others, it’s the one we found the most interesting.

Didn't know about the circus at Edmond. I'm on the opposite side of the OKC metropolitan area. Nothing haunted tht I know about.

Well, as you probably know; Hollywood is in California. If you have enough $s & know the right people, you can

haunt ANYTHING.

We did ghost tours in Williamsburg, VA and Gettysburg, PA. Both were very good and historically interesting to listen to.

I grew up near Salem Massachusetts. It is very touristy now but growing up it was great for a scare.
Massachusetts is full of haunting places. You don't have to seek them out. Just walk down a country road at night alone...........

We have the Devil's Millhopper here in Florida, a deep sinkhole that's supposed to be a portal to hell.

My only experience with it was putting my arm down on a toxic caterpillar on a railing there and getting a really bad sting from it. I had a gigantic fiery bump on my arm that hurt for weeks. Maybe it was the Devil telling me to stay away? Woooo-oooo-ooooo……...

I went on a "Haunted Denver" tour several years ago. I was able to write down all the addresses and stories then the next day I drove around Denver and took photos. I can share more if anyone interested but here is one:

The V.G. Cream house is located in the middle of the block at the corner of Colfax and Miriam. This house was built in the 1880s by a prospector who found silver. The house is empty and it seems no one is sure what happened to the prospector. People have attempted to go into the house but there is a poltergeist presence that accosts people. It is a large invisible animal that leave very big wet paw prints on the floor. Businesses have been built around the house and they report poltergeist activity such as ovens turning on/off, lights turning off then back on, furniture overturning, eggs floating then smashing into walls, wine bottles tipping over or fall off the racks and breaking.

Well now that I read this I will no longer go to the zoo.!

The Philadelphia Zoo (America’s oldest) is said to be home to a few different full-body apparitions, including a female ghost in a long white dress who stands at the top of the staircase in the John Penn House .Sadly, no ghost animals.
