The horror and outrage

one of my encampments last summer was invisible upon approach. it's a screened area under a tree fall with a retractable tarp

the tripod of logs which supported the canopy was tied together by a vine that curled into the form of a fabronici curve.

Senegal, circa 1987......went on a wooden boat, (basically a large canoe type), day trip, some French people, a few locals being dropped off at various locales, (small islands and such)......it was early morning when we set out and dark when we returned - these ants were crossing the trail before we started, and still going when we got back....they wouldn't reveal their destination, and I gave up trying to count them:

I can't go far from home but my way of relaxing is watching videos of nature with animals and birds and beautiful landscapes and other wonderful scenery. It's accompanied by soft music and sounds of nature. I figure it's the next best thing to being way out there.
Yes I do the same, there are many wonderful YouTube videos on nature....I've just discovered a really good one, about a man named Martijn Doolaard, he is renovating cabins in the mountains of Italy.

sea to summit, this is where a big part of me remains...

this was a hut on one of our seaweed farms where the children played with starfish in ankle deep water at low tide and the dolphins swam beneath you in water three meters deep when the tide gets high...

it's really a life of a abundance if you enjoy the simple things, a great place to grow up or get old along with quite a number expats from all over to feel at home with.

and these are my children, möbius in the background and his step-sister in the foreground, enjoying a day up in the hills where we farm and raise livestock.

Khwai Tented (and moveable) Camp, Botswana, 2010. As it turned out, we were the only guests there at the time. In the foreground is Okwa, our driver/guide, who went on to manage his own camp; on the right, with the beer & bun, is 'Pilot' who had us in fits of laughter relating the tale of his company sponsored trip to Canada......can't recall the name of the fellow standing, but it was the best segment of the entire trip, (African Wild Dogs at another camp notwithstanding).
