I don’t believe that it should be mandatory but I do believe it should be encouraged and easily available.

I worry more about the anti vaccine movement against common childhood diseases like measles.

I’m afraid of what may be lurking at the bottom of the slippery slope.

As a healthcare worker, yes. I even had to get jabs just being a volunteer at the VA. Plus I was in the military and they were all mandatory.

As an oncology patient, I believed I had the right not to be exposed to unvaccinated people. I fought for that right and it did no good.

I had no immune system left, and the only place I was exposed to Covid, for example, was at the hospital and by medical professionals. These same professionals were not required by their employer to divulge whether they had been vaccinated. Their employer had 93,000 employees who were not required to be vaccinated, although most were (ie, at least 51%).

In addition, with the vaccines available, I could not get the blood transfusion I needed-- I could only get half of it. Because our ICU was filled with unvaccinated Covid patients.

Then there were stores that required customers to wear masks inside. My son went in some of those stores, masked, and discovered the majority of the customers were not wearing masks. He talked to the managers, who told him that he couldn't risk saying anything in case someone got shot. In our state, the open carry of handguns was not prohibited. My son could see that some of the customers were carrying guns.

That's terrible and I can understand from just recovering from chemo and radiation. Fortunately I was treated at the VA and they are strict about that.

Refusal to vaccinate has consequences.

Health care workers in my area are vaccinated for obvious reasons. If you cannot see why, you should not work with compromised people.

Gr-daughter was a traveling nurse during covid and she had some heart-breaking stories.
I get them anyway so would make no difference.

Sure, same as when I worked the jails- staff needed to be current on their vaccinations. With a dense population of patients or inmates disease spreads quickly, and doesn't distinguish between staff and the facility population.

I worked as a nurse for many years. Every flu/rsv season we were required to either get vaccinated or wear masks the entire season. I hated the masks. Took the vaccinations every year. When you get a job you sell your time to a person or entity to do what THEY want you to do. You can always quit or move on. My hospital would not let you wear perfume. I could not sport a tongue or nose piercing. I had to wear navy blue uniforms. I could not have a visible tattoo. So what? I sold my time. Glad I did.

Or perhaps we should go back to the "good old days" when 4 out of 10 newborns died before age 5.
