Another well animated film is coming out this year.

A favorite story I read to my kids and own the video game, the animation looks superb.

Oh that wonderful, vicky! Yes I remember it and my childrens was love that book... Cousins are all tell us to go to see Zootopia ... may be this week end ...thanks for tell us about Jungle Book! :) xo

Looks good. I've read complaints that the orangutan is wrong because they don't have orangutans in India. That tells me that the movie is not one of the original stories (just based on the series). But I'm going to go see it. I'll take my niece's kids so I look legit.

Very true, but even historical themed books and movies are not precise.

It drives one nuts but that's hollywood! Lol

I love Kipling's work but it is probably a bit dated now.

In The Jungle Book the Bandar Log, translation "Monkey People", represent people who are outside the law. They are the
"scum" of society, feckless, irresponsible, lacking individuality, capable only of acting as a pack, dreamers who will never be doers. They are not only outside the Law: they are beyond it, and its enemies.

I assume Disney didn't want to venture into this territory and made the monkey people a bit more sympathetic, hence the switch to the orangutan.

I agree, from some reading online,Disney worked hard on moving away from Kiplings original work.

In the last animated version "filmakers tried to sidestep perceptions of racism with King Louie by casting an Italian-American singerr in the role rather than Louis Armstrong ,whom the part was originally written for,the character still violated the ethos of social progress"

I think they even worked harder now.
