The latest DB Cooper suspect is from a lead given the their children who waited until their mom died fearing/thinking she participated in this plot and another. A Richard McCory Jr. The suspect had a criminal past and parachute similar to the one prepared for the hijacker.


Siblings claim late dad is mysterious plane hijacker DB Cooper after finding hidden parachute in home: ‘One in a billion’

The kids found a unique parachute which raised their suspicions. The suspect died after a prison break and shootout with police. The suspect caught after trying the same thing with a different airline 5 months later.

The FBI now has the shute and got DNA samples from the children to compare with what they gathered for evidence decades ago.

I just read somewhere that back in 1971, they didn't have DNA evidence protocols, and multiple people have handled his supposed cigarette butt, contaminating it.

The probably could get elimination samples from the agents if still alive or they might have had to give dna once the tech came out. Although I thought by the 1970s I thought they handled evidence with gloves. They also say there's dna from a tie clip.

The tie clip helps point out an issue about anyone surviving without help because the hijacker jumped out a plane at night in the Pacific Northwest in late fall which not only has near freezing temperatures on the ground but the air falling hundreds of miles an hour in a suit & tie not outdoor clothing? No goggles? Apparently had gloves. He would've had to deploy his shute right away to prevent wind burn.
