The Legacy of Gabby Petito

Since there were several threads pertaining to this case i thought even tho it's not a 'Hot Topic' anymore i would post this 'footnote' to the saga. Sometimes good things come from bad things happening. Sometimes unintentional--bodies of other missing folks were discovered during the search for Ms. Petito in Wyoming and the search for Laundrie after he went missing in Florida. What's more the remains of several other missing people were found in other states at the height of the case's time in the spotlight, likely because the authorities decided to take one more look due to all the Petito/Laundrie publicity or the public in their jurisdiction demanded they do so.

i don't think that's why the bad things happen, but i do think it is a very human thing to find a way to cope with a major loss by creating something good to honor the loved one you are mourning. John Walsh became a crusader for justice for missing and murdered youngsters after his own son was brutally murdered. Now Gabby Petito's family, who acknowledged Gabby's case got more attention because of who she was (pretty, petit, blonde) and that every missing person deserves as much attention, have established a foundation to help find missing persons of ALL kinds and combat domestic violence. This is an intentionally created good consequence of a horrific event. i felt compassion for them all along, now i respect and admire them as well.

This is such a noble effort on their part. I'll have to admit, I'm not a big fan of young people who have to post their every move on social media, but this story is indeed tragic and I know her parents are suffering.

It is good to see that they are furthering awareness for victims who are not cute and blonde and are, as a result, invisible. 👍

Hopefully some learn from the episode. Once any type of violence starts in a relationship it's time to re-evaluate the relationship/individual. Same if observing this is in friends and family.

Suspect that's part of what motivating Petito family. Wouldn't be surprised to learn her family had concerns and tried to talk to her about it. But 'young and in love' isn't conducive to listening to reason.
