One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."
He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."

* You are not alone. I always find this poem an inspiration whenever I need the encouragement.
yes I've always loved that poem too

How I know that pain Holly, my mother passed at the age of 36 leaving Dad with four children to raise alone, he did it too, it wrecked his health but he would have sacrificed that, and anything else, for the love of his children and the memory of the love of his life. His choice of psalm at mother's funeral was Psalm 121: "I lift up my eyes to the mountains, where does my help come from?"
Many years later he told me that when he felt lost, he would raise his eyes and whisper his wife's name: "What now Hilda?" Somehow something just seemed to happen and he, and his kids, were back on track.
I pray that "something" might help ohioboy.

As a teen I sang in a church choral group. Those words were favorites. It was called Lift Thine Eyes.

@ohioboy Please accept my well wishes for you. I have been absent from here for a bit and didn't find this thread until tonight.

You are so much appreciated and well liked here, I hope you will keep on keeping on. 🤗 and Prayers.
