The Magic has gone.

Driving.... Until the last year or 2 I would go out most days , drive miles to somewhere picturesque and take photos (photography is my passion).... now the roads are so jam packed it's taken the joy out of finding somewhere new to photograph, and I now have to kinda stay within my own semi rural area... It's pretty here don't get me wrong, but there's just so many photos you can take without repetition... but driving yep.. I always loved it, but not now..at least not not in this country anymore..

Traveling.

It's just too much of a hassle for me.

These days I would much rather watch a television program or read a book about far away places in the comfort of my own little apartment.

Like most little boys I used to love picking the scabs on my knees where I had fallen over, and nose picking, and looking for fluff in my belly button, and pretending to flick boogers at little girls, I was disgusting ... but thankfully the magic of those activities has now gone ...

I've done a fair bit of travelling over the years, but have now become a 'homebody' with no more desire to travel. I still enjoy 'armchair travel' via tv shows and documentaries. I always enjoyed driving, but now prefer to not own a vehicle with the related hassles & costs.

Golf. I practically lived on the golf course.

Way too expensive now for the course I belonged to previously.

So I took up bike riding instead. I love it. There's a sense of power and independence not having to depend on a car.

I also can take a bus right outside my door.

I still have my car, but rarely use it.

Working,, I used to love getting up at the crack of dawn and trudging miles through the sleet rain and snow, the heat of day. Up hill, down alleys and in the hood.

I am now content to roll out of bed when the spirit hits me and do whatever I desire on a whim.

Another vote for travel....the few places I'd want to see would involve too much work and stress, I've come to the point that I can't wait to get home just when I go shopping....so I guess I could add shopping to the list too, I'd rather order it online...I'm hoping by the time I cannot drive I'll be able to order my groceries online in this rural area.

Nice thread.

I loved to crochet. I made so many afghans. Today the throws you can buy are so beautiful and most of all so easy to keep clean. We had pets back then and no matter how many times you washed them it was next to impossible to get the pet hair out of them. Another favorite was trying new recipes especially desserts. I've lost interest in that as well because so many family members are now on special diets so it's no sense making elaborate desserts that most can't eat. I still cook and bake but it's just not as much fun.

Going to baseball games. I'm still a fan, but prefer watching from the comfort of my home. The crowds, heat, steps to climb, ridiculous cost of parking, food, etc. have all done me in.

Also, the last time I went to the beach, I had the feeling that beach resorts are really for young people. If I had a quiet, peaceful beach nearby, I'd probably still go.
