The first Tuesday in November a horse race in Melbourne causes a whole nation to go silly. People flock to Flemington race course, not necessarily to see the horses run. They go there to be seen, photographed, to get completely sozzled and to make a fool of themselves. In other parts of the country people bet online, participate in sweeps at the office and hold Melbourne Cup parties with friends to watch the race which is held mid afternoon in the eastern states. There is little else on the TV all day.
But the Northern Territory has it's own unique way of joining in the madness. They hold crocodile and toad races. They are a bit different in the Top End.
