i haven't read that much of your posts/replies till today.Funny you should say that, Mr Ed. I was just reading your post in the Cowboy advice thread and thinking how much I like you!
I know I tend to be negative a lot (people have told me so.) I'm sorry if I've ever upset anyone.
Good! Considering your frame of mind when you arrived a day or so ago, it would worry me otherwise.I am joking...![]()
Thank you so much for your concern!Good! Considering your frame of mind when you arrived a day or so ago, it would worry me otherwise.
Some aspects of Reality are going to not be "cheery & happy", but that's life. But If a media outlet is constantly presenting material that makes you anxious, angry and sad....then it's time to QUIT watching that garbage. Focus on the present, on the moment, on the stillness, or maybe just stare at say, the busy work being done by a bee collecting pollen, or birds as they hunt for goodies in the yard.I come on this site for new ideas and interesting points of view. For purely negative, dooms day news I always go to our Canadian CBC. According to them, we are all going to die from those new variants of interest, the climate change will kill all the rest who survive and that is only the beginning of their daily barge of super bad news. If that don't get you buddy, then there is the constant dose of photos showing long sticks of being shoved up the nose of some young girl. It's always girls for some reason. Yep, according to the CBC we are all doomed; no using even trying!
@Mr. Ed It seems that I read in one of your posts that you had trained to preach, at some previous point in your life but decided against it after all. I also was struck by the thought that most communities, especially where there are many care centers nearby, also have an abundance of churches as well. Might be coincidence, maybe something more, that’s not why I thought of it though. All of them need people to make sure that things run smoothly there though. They need office personnel and building maintenance people as well. Someone changes the light bulbs that burn out in the sanctuary. Or makes sure that all the hymnals are where they should be, come Sunday mornings. Have you considered contacting some of them to see if you might find employment at any of them? I’ve heard it said that working for the Lord doesn’t pay much but the benefits are supposed to be out of this world! That last line was for fun but really, maybe if you have a religious background, working for a church might be something to consider even if you might not be the star of the show. When they roll the credits at the end of a movie, one sees the names of the folks behind the scenes. They’re just as important as anyone but they seldom see the spotlight. I think that you’d meet a lot of people there too! Good luck in your quest. I was fortunate to have not held many jobs during my working years but finding those few jobs weren’t the most pleasant experiences I can recall.Since my job ended in February my social skills have slightly declined. This is one reason I am looking for employment, but there are not many places that do not require a lot of standing or heavy labor. Retail sales are out, I don't want to be subjected to the rant of an angry customer. Caregiver is a possibility except I am leery of entering a stranger's home and being under his/her domain. Plus you don't know what you are getting into working directly with the family.
I should look into where people congregate, The Senior Centers have not reopened yet. The City/County are renovating a building in town that will serve as the main center for seniors and satellite stations throughout the County.
I agree. I wish I had a job. I wish I was able to have a job.I was a Registered Nurse. I remember the day when I heard someone say, "I'll ask the nurse". And that was me. I could not physically do the job anymore, and I had to retire on disability. Being a nurse was part of me, and I had no place to go. You become what you do. It doesn't matter what that is, and your job puts you in contact with others-you get none of that sitting at home. I still have to develop a way to be with others. I believe any job is better than no job. You need to be needed. And you get to meet people.
I appreciate your thoughts I like me tooFunny you should say that, Mr Ed. I was just reading your post in the Cowboy advice thread and thinking how much I like you!

I'll throw a suggestion out there too. Have you considered working for a school as a classroom aide? They would probably love someone like you. My district is always looking for aides and substitute aides. It doesn't pay much but sure is fun and satisfying working with kids, they make me smile every day.Since my job ended in February my social skills have slightly declined. That's a good suggestion but these days, with suspicions running rampant, white males, especially older ones, aren't usually considered for or allowed to come into close contact with children outside of their own social circles. I speak from personal experience. Men in general are discriminated against in many ways, some subtle, some not so much.I'll throw a suggestion out there too.
