The new green deal!

Someone started a site where people who are concerned about the environment could donate money.
I posted a BS comment saying that if everybody lived like I did in my cave where the temperature stayed mild all year round and the windmill pumps the water from the well, eat eggs from the chickens and milk from the cow that it would reduce pollution.
And said that if we all go back to living like our great grandparents that we wouldn’t have to donate money to save the environment.
I told them that I couldn’t afford to donate money because I was investing all of mine in solar panels and batteries.
All a bunch of baloney.
Some guy read what I had posted and got told me that he raises rabbits for food and that raising rabbits gives you the best return for your investment then you can get from any other source.
I thanked him and had to tell him that I don’t really live like that but was just trying to show that if you really want to stop pollution then you would have to make sacrifices and live like our great grandparents did.

Nah... living with the soot and debris from the steel mill like my great grandparents did is NOT for me!
I like my snow white, not crusted over black from slag dumps.

My house is quite similar to theirs, except I don't have coal and coal dust to contend with (heating).

No way I want to go back to that (and all the lung disease).

Didn’t really think about the ancestors who lived in the big cities and industrialized areas. My Great Grandparents lived in rural Kansas after the civil war. I suppose they had to burn something to heat and cook with too.

When the world does go ALL GREEN, and all us Green Deniers are forced back into living in caves, one day an ALL GREEN bleep will find us and scream at us that we are destroying the earth with the smoke from our small camp fire. Soon afterwards we will not be allowed Fire. At that point us Green Deniers will be forced back in a time well before that of the ancient cave men who 'invented' Fire.

Do I need to tell you the All Green bleeps will not be sleeping in caves but in a well heated home somewhere in The Lands of The Elites?

It's all about Power and Control.

I haven't donated money and I dont know what site OP is talking about (not sure posting a baloney post there was really great though 😕 )but I do try to be as environmentally friendly as possible
if people want to discuss such things and raise money, why post a baloney post - why not just leave them to it?

(presuming it isnt a scam, of course)

Don’t you think it is a scam to be asking for donations for an organization that is supposed to enlighten people about the environment? Maybe you would donate to something like that but I feel like it’s on par with donating to save the endangered green worms in the bayou or something.

We are all entitled to our own opinion, and I completely disagree with fuzzybuddy. Our planet has an amazing ability to heal itself and continue to survive. I agree with Doddering Biker the green movement is a communist movement for power, money and CONTROL.

I believe that the situation is real but I’m not convinced that we can buy our way out of it.

Sometimes the most effective solution is to simply stop doing the things that are causing or contributing to the problem.

That can look very different for each of us.

I think that a lot of it this stuff today are scams.
We were taught that the way to provide for a healthy environment was to stop the deforestation of the rain forests.
For a while people were on a mission to plant trees and to help the planet heal.
The best ways to make the environment a healthier place is by promoting the natural healing powers of nature.
As far as burning wood or coal there are a lot of cleaner ways to heat your home if you want to live like our primitive ancestors.
Add another dog to the bed on a cold night.
You have heard of the term a three dog’s night haven’t you?
Geothermal - heat from decomposition- magnified sun light shining on a rock base just for an example.
People live above the barn in some places in Europe.
Heat from the animals plus warmth from the hay as it cures.
Dig down a ways and you will have geothermal.

.. I agree with both sides, Fuzzy and rwb. We mustn't cover the planet in concrete and we mustn't force ridiculous, ineffectual solutions on others.
As long as the world is so incredibly corrupt on the one hand and naive and sheeplike on the other, we're doomed to failure.
We could begin by discouraging high birth rates by NOT rewarding them and discouraging Big Business ruthless behavior of forever shooting for higher growth, thereby wasting OUR resources and poisoning the earth --by not encouraging them or allowing governments to favor them.
If we don't solve the problem, the earth will solve it for us. I believe it is doing that now.

I dont know - that's why I said 'presuming it is not a scam;'

I might donate to something like that - if I were considering doing so, I would check the aims and legitimacy of the organisation first.
