The New Year 2025 So Far

New Years Eve I stayed up till 3 am watching tv and knitting. Went to bed and while I was still awkae, the ambulance pulls up, full lights but o siren. A few minutes later they go out with lights and sirens and someone for here inside. No more info.

Last night I went to bed at 1am, fell asleep and woke up at 4 am with lots of rapidly flashing red lights (police, no medical) but kept me awake for about ahalf hour. No noise. They left and I fell asleep. Still don't know what happened but I think I sould find out.

As far as I know the police have not been here like that for the 6 yrs I have been here. Time to watch events closely and start looking around.

Start looking around and go where?

The good news is that the police and EMTs are responding.

Get to know your neighbors, make sure that you have good lighting, security doors, dead bolt locks, etc… , make a fuss with management if you don’t.

My best protection is the anonymity of living in a complex with over 200 apartments.

I wished for better in 2025, supposed to snow lots Sunday. Thanks 2025.
I don't ski, guess I should mount new tires on Turbo's Tomorrow.
 
Interesting. Cops were here last night also.

Yelling, screaming, door knocking (then pounding), cursing before 2am. Cops here about 3am. Knocked on my door. WTF for? I was not involved and I sure as sh** didn't call the police.

People next to me may have got into it with the people downstairs due to the noise. Not sure. I did not open my door. Woman arrested. Cops here this AM for welfare check on the baby. I was coming up the stairs from feeding the ferals.

AuntBea...I know some of my neighbors but more than 3/4 are new and keep to themselves. Fine with me. I can only have a door handle lock on my door as the door is metal and there is a rule not to use other locks. It states that if one does they will be liable for eviction. I keep a living room lamp on 2/7.

There are 48 apts here so your business belongs to everyone. I am glad you are doing what you can and are safe.

If you feel a need & have a strong kitchen chair prop it under the Doorknob / angled as a anti really bad situation slow up. Some use a 2x4 up 2 feet above the doorknob to resist impact insertion to the residence. That takes some
steel brackets into the door outer stud frame in the wall though.
