Wow all this so interesting and I`d love to live where they had a canal system .. not only UK that has them and I had no idea they were in USA as well .. thanks for sharing these wonderful old photos ..

I had some great fishing days on the Champlain Canal right near Deb's house and the Mohawk Canal back in the day. GE had polluted the Champlain Canal (and the Hudson River w PCB's) w it's many plants so the state allowed fishing but not keeping fish. As a result there were lots of fish and not much fishing pressure.

The remnants of the old Champlain Canal are near my house. Now it's just an algae, frog and mosquito haven.

I fished Waterford to Stillwater and transited locks C1-C5 mostly. Is that the "old" Champlain Canal.
