The older I get the more I HATE computers.

Within the last six months I had two computers majorly screw up. One I just bought a few months ago, required a firmware update. Okay fine I thought, but the update failed and basically bricked the laptop. I'll be spending some time at BestBuy in the morning, time spent better elsewhere. I make a living with the blasted things, but the more time I spend with the demons the more I wish to escape them, not speaking of here of course.

Falling back to the old reliable Apple Macbook Pro.

Newer computers seem to suck harder than older ones. Even before you're finished with setup, these days, you're forced to enroll yourself in constant surveillance by the software makers, or never get set up.

The automatic updates suck, as well. Computer companies practice the exact opposite of the dictate: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" They follow: "If it's running smoothly, we will force you to update, anyway, and that will make your computer run lousy, and move you into the mindset where you'll be itching to buy a new computer in another year, or so, because your current one will be a piece of garbage!" I can honestly say that I've NEVER done an update where I thought, afterwards, "Boy, what a great improvement!" Quite the opposite, in fact!

My current phone used to be great. After two updates, it freezes, out of nowhere. Very frustrating!

My computer has a mind of its own. When it decides to work I use it,if it is in a bad mood I leave it alone and use my Kindle or laptop.
I think it knows I have a backup because the next time I turn it on it cooperates.
My daughter will be coming for Easter and I have a mile long list of computer problems which she will handle very efficiently while rolling her eyes at me.

My laptop is a couple of years old. Everything was working fine until the last auto update. Now it refuses to let me scan papers to the laptop. It still prints from things from the computer. The older printer doesn't seem to be supported by updated drivers or software or whatever. Looks Like I'll have to trash a perfectly good printer and get another one. What a Bummer!.

I started with a kindle fire which I got on sale off Amazon. I hate the thing. Now it's so screwed up because I can't get into my email on it now that I have the laptop because that requires syncing it and that looked waaaaayyyy to complicated for what I know how to do.
Then there's the laptop....
Brand new (quite expensive) and has windows 10 and Microsoft edge. Both of which suck rocks. I've had quite the time trying to figure this user unfriendly set of programs out. I made an alias account one day to go play an online game and I didn't want my regular email getting spammed and my Microsoft saw this as a security threat and has locked me out of my own acct. I thought I had it fixed but nothing doing. I've tried 6 ways from Sunday to get ahold of Microsoft to get assistance and nada. I have given up. It wins. It's either that or I heave it into the street. LOL

Very happy with my 15.6 inch Chromebook Lap Top.. (y) (y) :) No more windows to deal with!!!!

For those who are having issues with updates on Windows PC's, there is a feature you can search for called "System Restore" that will return your computer to the condition it was in before the update. Check it out. Also google how to turn off automatic updates.

So far, so good with my ASUS laptop. Had it for about 2 years. I also have a Kindle Fire.. I mainly use that for downloading and purchasing books from Amazon.. It's also like a small laptop... I love it.
I agree on the Kindle Fire. I actually never read books on it since I still use my Kindle Paper White for that. The Kindle Fire is my "little laptop" that I can carry around the house and use when I'm not sitting right at my computer.

I never had a computer before,bought it a month before I retired in 2011
It was HP Windows 7,in the beginning didn't really know how to use it.Lenore, our graphic designer in the business office at my church where I volunteer has been an excellent teacher. She taught me so many computer skills over the yrs,its amazing
I never updated to Windows 10 when it was free, the updates took forever knew it was time to get something else. After researching,I bought a 14 inch Chromebook at Best Buy last July.It was an adjustment going from a 20 inch to 14 inch screen, not having Windows is a godsend.

Yes... computers have their moods..so does cable TV. Technology takes a pause sometime. :ROFLMAO:

When my sister first introduced me to Kindle for downloading books.. I was sooooo against it. I was like, I need to feel the book, turn the pages..but when I FINALLY purchased my Kindle.. I WAS HOOKED...love it!!!

Regular backups are important - Sadly I lost some of my artwork and other documents, even though I thought I was good about doing backups.

I just lost some of my picture files with Window's latest backup. I only got the notification advising against the backup AFTER it was already done and some of my pics had disappeared. Luckily, not too many.

Been there, done that ... and it still finds a way to bother me about updates.

Tried it, but I must have fubared something as no backups existed.

My first computer was a desktop running Windows 95 my wife bought at a thrift store in the 1990's. LOL
I loved Windows XP and Windows 7. Now I'm running an Apple Computer, 27 inch iMac computer. No more Microsoft Updates to put up with every month. Very happy with the "Big Mac". :)

I started out with DOS, and now sadly have Macs, PCs, Tablets and Phones.
