There was the Victorian painter John Atkinson Grimshaw (1836-1893). I like his paintings of urban scenes at twilight, dawn and at night very much. To me they are enchanting in a special way.

In one of those links above;
it explains that when he was 24 yrs old, he dismayed his parents, by quitting his first job as a railway agent,
In order to pursue a career in art.

😄😁😆

We understand the parents point of view,
😉
but we're all very thankful he did!

It's a timeless story, for sure. 🤩

I studied this guy in high school. Many of the paintings look familiar. He was a very interesting person as well as a painter.
