Anyone live in or near where the Pilgrim (Founding) Fathers arrived on The Mayflower, if so you may be interested in this project which is taking place in my home town.

[h=1]Just IMAGINE …[/h]..boarding a wooden ship, the Mayflower of Harwich nearly 400 years ago, and setting sail across the vast Atlantic ocean, traversing 3000 miles in all weathers to the new land of America.

Huge waves are constantly crashing against the ship’s topsail deck. The Crew have just a compass for navigation and an hour glass to measure time.
One man, Captain Christopher Jones, whose house still stands today in Old Harwich, England, took responsibility for the care of nearing 130 souls in that memorable year of 1620.

A fine plan but were there no Pilgrim Mothers and Children?

I am always in awe of the courage of the people who sailed the oceans in those little ships in all weathers. They were the astronauts of their time but they weren't all male. I wonder, will there be room for women on the recreation voyage? I reckon there will be those who want to take part.

No Davy, I live in Harwich in the U.K., where the replica Mayflower is being built and from where it will sail to America in 2020.

Interesting project, isn't it? I used to live in Plymouth [England]. The main shopping street is called Mayflower St.Lots of tourists come to the Quayside there [full of quaint houses/shops.]

No problem Davey.:)

Thanks to everyone else that passed comment, the whole town is behind this project and feel very proud also visitors can go and watch the work being done.:)
