It is hot here…most days will now be over 100 degrees till October. So I am keeping a bird water dish under my tree. It has been a real hit! But for the last three days a hawk has moved in. Hawk is hungry and hot…so I do not begrudge it comfort…but what a party pooper for the other birds. Do you feed or water birds?

I have had a bird bath in my back garden for years. The last 5 years or so, I have also been feeding birds – they especially hang around waiting for me to come out in the winter when food is scarce. I have had a party of blue jays coming regularly. They don’t fly away when I am in the garden so I guess they are used to me.

Like @DebraMae, just a backyard hummingbird feeder over summer so we can watch them swoop around while we swim.

No bird baths though. I got tired of cleaning BBs and fountains, so when they toppled & broke in the 1994 earthquake we didn't replace them. No regrets on that score.
