The price of toothpaste

Regular toothpaste does a good job removing plaque build-up. Hell, baking soda does a good job removing plaque build-up, and for mere pennies. For $6 I'd expect a lot better than a good job.

C'mon, Deb, don't let them fool you.
My late mom used soda for years. It works. Some brands add it to toothpaste and then charge you more for it. Use soda and rinse with peroxide which they also add and charge you more.

My father used to brush his teeth with Dr. Lyon’s Tooth Powder, a product I don’t think is available any longer. You just dumped some of the powder in your palm, moistened your toothbrush bristles with water, dipped it in the powder, and were off to the races! My mother used to brush her teeth with salt, although how she stood it I don’t know. She wound up with dentures, so I don’t think the salt was an effective “dentifrice.“ From what I’ve read, it was originally a battle just to get people to brush their teeth at all, and was sold to the public to sweeten their breath...

I buy my toothpaste from Dollar Tree, ergo it's always a dollar. I have gotten Aquafresh (my preferred brand) and Crest from there and they are not trial sized tubes. I also stock up on toothbrushes (some 3 or 4 for $1) and two kinds of placards. Are there any Dollar Trees in your vicinity?

Be true to your teeth and they won't be false to you!

You can always share in those increased profits. Colgate-Palmolive stock price - 78.42 USD +0.090 (0.11%) today

Hormel Foods - 43.44 USD −2.23 (4.89%)today

Colgate's share price has roughly tripled in 20 years, not including dividends. That means it has significantly underperformed the S&P 500 over that time.

Companies raise prices at two times: 1) when they have to; and 2) when they can. If you don't charge as much as you can, then you're cheating your shareholders.

Yes, that's why capitalism sucks. It would be much better to wait in line for the monthly toothpaste ration.

If you stay at a hotel or a motel, from time to time, they give you free toiletries amongst which usually includes toothpaste. And why is it called "toothpaste" instead of teeth paste? I mean, we have teeth, most of us do. But only a few have one tooth. Linguistics baffles me at times.
