The Queen's down to her last nickle.

Queen who?? She can always file for bankruptcy and King Obama will probably bail her out.

Saturday Night Live portrays her the best!

I would rather have a stable, ageing, and slightly odd monarchy, than a totally political president..

The Queen is much loved by the British people and well respected in Australia.
Although I'm in favour of Australia becoming a constitutional republic, I have no complaints about the way Elizabeth II has served her people. She has kept all her lifetime vows. Something few Presidents and Prime Ministers have done.

If you must mock, do it gently, with a kind spirit.

I don't think mocking or sarcastic comments about our leaders are all that appreciated by anyone.

I echo Warri, for once. I'm genetically mostly Scot and Oirish so no love lost for Royalty and rate them with the Kardashians when I see their heads in mags but I make exception for the Queen.
For her personally, not for her office.

She has dedicated her life to filling the role she was born to with all the dignity and diligence that anyone could ask or expect of a person. She's done the job she's been paid for. And earned her salary fairly imo. What palace is worth the freedom to live a normal life? Who would choose to live in a gilded cage? I may be slipping but even my cynicism can't find any reason other than a sense of duty that could have motivated her to do as well as she's done for so damned long. I respect that.

She's entitled to get grumpy isn't she? I know I would, having to tart up and get my damned hair done every day just to keep up appearances and suffer the fawning fools that she has to treat politely. She is nobody's fool, a strong and intelligent woman who has kept a level head and balanced her public and private activities with dignity. She is a politician in things diplomatic, but without the need or propensity for the lies and deceit they indulge in.

Don't judge her as one okay? Credit where it's due.

When the role goes to Charlie I'll be considering whether one of the Corgis might not be a better choice, I suspect the Queen might think likewise or she'd have retired by now.

We are too busy making fun of our own politicians and leaders.

As far as making fun of the Queen I think the woman who plays her in The Naked Gun movie is outstanding, she plays her very dignified.

God Save the Queen. No disrespect was meant. :D

Di and Warri, Jilly too, I agree with all of you. As usual, well said Di. I have much respect for the Queen, all those years and not even a breath of scandal or eyebrow raising. The political trash we have around the world these days could take a lesson from her dignity.

A contraire mon ami. It is paramount that these clowns be cut down to size. Just because someone is propped up in a position of "authority" does not make them all glorious and wonderful. May I direct you to everyone's favorite Dear Leader Kim Jung Jerk.
