OMG i just saw the news they have had a years rain in one day, it looks really bad i do hope all who live there are safe, all we can do is pray for some fine weather so things can dry out and people will again be safe in their homes

 

Some areas have really been hit hard, I feel bad for the victims. Thankfully, we've been safe where we live. First there was drought conditions and wildfires, now excessive flooding...hell or high water. :rolleyes:

Sounds like here! We had massive floods and 400 bushfires all on at the same time a couple of years ago.

Glad you're okay where you are SB. It's hard enough seeing people's lives destroyed but worse when it's someone we 'know'.

I feel bad for the animals too, the guy tied to the fence makes me want to cry, hope they can do something for him before it's too late. They predict heavy rains again tomorrow 70% chance, and more during the week. :(

So sad....poor Colorado, if they aren't fighting wild fires they're dealing with flooding. Still, it's the prettiest state I've ever seen.
 
I heard on the news at least six people have died, that's terrible. The latest was an elderly woman who was washed away in her house.
Here In Australia we have some terrible floods the other year, & people lost their lives. So sad & devistating.
I hope no more lives are lost & all can get back to some normality soon.

I live in Denver.

It started raining, again, a few minutes ago. The yards are extremely green, and any plants that survived our strict watering schedules are making up for lost time, just in time for shorter days and the inevitable first hard freeze.

While the national news shows images of houses - a few miles - from us, being washed away, I have not heard one program talk about the farm land bearing crops almost ready for harvest.

The pictures are just the beginning. This devastation is going to affect people throughout the USA.
 
Good point Mercy, we tend to disconnect from the aftermath and forget about it when it stops being News.

We had a couple of cyclones that wiped out our main banana growing areas. Doesn't sound much, and we saw the damage and forgot about it until suddenly we couldn't afford bananas any more and they started importing them from the Phillipines. Now, several years later we find there's a new disease getting into the local crops. Hasn't been proven yet but we have to suspect it was imported along with the fruit.

Journos don't find crops 'sexy' enough to report on but they are every bit as important as infrastructure.
