The Rockerfeller Foundation drops investments in fossil fuels!

How ironic is that? Yes, the fortune was made on oil but the heirs have decided that now is the time to go green, at least to a large degree. Nice of them, but I am sure they still, have enough to live on...

No doubt. I can understand their actions...Saudi Arabia is building the worlds largest solar collector array against the rapidly approaching day when their oil, for one reason or another...will not be wanted. They'll sell green electricity to Europe...then the Russians can eat their oil having lost their hostage customers. The Germans and Eastern Europeans are intimidated into silence by their dependence on Russian oil. Let's turn off Putin's cash cow, present a united front, and see how popular he remains with his people.

Hmm, so the Rockerfeller folks are getting out of fossil fuels while the getting is good...

Yep but our government continues counting on the world to still want our coal.
The Rockerfellers have smelled the wind but our pollies have their heads up their fundamentals and are desperately trying not to smell anything.

But your Chinese pals are your best coal customers. Got to keep them happy while bringing in the money...

We export 28M tons of coal each year. China only gets 3%...too far away. As our natural gas production continues to grow exponentially, that figure will drop dramatically. It's far cleaner and easier to transport. Each year our coal fired plants spew millions of tons of pollutants into our air and water:

1. 3.7 million tons of carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the main greenhouse gas, and is the leading cause of global warming. There are no regulations limiting carbon dioxide emissions in the U.S.
2. 10,000 tons of sulfur dioxide. Sulfur dioxide (SOx) is the main cause of acid rain, which damages forests, lakes and buildings.
3. 10,200 tons of nitrogen oxide. Nitrogen oxide (NOx) is a major cause of smog, and also a cause of acid rain.
4. 500 tons of small particles. Small particulates are a health hazard, causing lung damage. Particulates smaller than 10 microns are not regulated, but may be soon.
5. 220 tons of hydrocarbons. Fossil fuels are made of hydrocarbons; when they don’t burn completely, they are released into the air. They are a cause of smog.
6. 720 tons of carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide (CO) is a poisonous gas and contributor to global warming.
7. 125,000 tons of ash and 193,000 tons of sludge from the smokestack scrubber. A scrubber uses powdered limestone and water to remove pollution from the plant’s exhaust. Instead of going into the air, the pollution goes into a landfill or into products like concrete and drywall. This ash and sludge consists of coal ash, limestone, and many pollutants, such as toxic metals like lead and mercury.

The last 3 of the top ten drop to pounds...arsenic, cadmium, and lead. Cancer anyone?

"You load sixteen tons and what do you get?" Cancer...
