A heads up...

The Rolling Stones this week announced their "Stones Hackney Diamonds Tour '24. Obviously tickets will be in highest demand. Locally they will play at the huge Levi Stadium venue. I've seen the Stones several times from the 1970s era. At this web site is a link for getting registered into the online 12pm November 29, 2023 pre-sale queue from a Code to be sent by 10am 11/28/23:

Thanks. I've seen the Stones maybe six times, starting in 1966. But their upcoming shows are far away from us, so ...

If you go, have a great time!

I am happy if you are happy but I can go look in the mirror if I want to vomit. There are just some things that do not hold up in old age, Mick is one of those. He needs to give it up, stay home, get a pet and be proud of the contributions he made to the world in his glory days!!

Why are we all so concerned about what was and what is?

We all had our glory days. That is something we can't recapture. So many are afraid to age and accept the inevitable. To me it is shocking to see the lengths some will go to to pretend this is not happening all for the sake of making money pretending that they are still relevant in old age. Same thing with people of our generation getting plastic surgery to pretend they are not aging.

There is a gift in accepting who you are, we can just be ourselves, no pretense, no apologies, there is nothing wrong with aging. Of course, I am nothing special but if I ever was I would not be out there at this age looking a fool.

Okay. That's your take on it, and you're welcome to it.

There are those of us who are music lovers, specifically Rolling Stones music lovers. It has no bearing on how old we or they are. We'd just like to hear their music. And it's quite a bit different hearing it live rather than on recordings. Way, way different. And very exciting.

ADDED: When people who appreciate your music are willing to pay for it, recorded or live, then that's what makes it relevant.

AMENDED: when people appreciate your art and wish to partake of it, that's what makes it relevant ... to them.

We have Harry Connick Jnr. here in Sydney at the moment. I had no idea he was here for a concert tour.. I wish I did know as my children wanted to know what I wanted for my birthday. I think he is very talented and his band awesome.

Former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman has apparently reunited with the band more than 30 years after leaving the group.

Wyman, 86, will be featured on a song on the Stones’ upcoming album, the Sun reported Friday, as a tribute to their late drummer Charlie Watts, who died at 80 in Aug. 2021 after a battle with throat cancer.

Lead singer Mick Jagger, 79, reportedly invited Wyman to recording sessions in Los Angeles to work on the track.

“Bill hasn’t seen the band together for years but always loved Charlie. This record’s really a tribute to Charlie, so he couldn’t say no,” a source told the outlet.

The late Watts’ drumming also will reportedly be featured on the record, which will be the Stones’ first studio release since his death.

Paul McCartney, 80, and Ringo Starr, 82, of The Beatles will reportedly play bass and drums, respectively, on the album, too.

the tour is starting here in Houston and I would love to go. But with all the shootings going on here I would be afraid being out in crowds. Times have changed but I still love their music and will content myself with their recordings that I have.

I know what you mean. The last concert I went to (Lynyrd Skynyrd) was in 2011 or 2012. I can't see hauling myself to a concert arena (I guess they'll be playing arenas) and standing around for hours. LOL!

If musicians are still able to play and sing reasonably to their appreciative public audiences, almost all choose to do so. Musicians and singers that play to large audiences have received enormous enjoyment over their lifetimes that they can still enjoy. When they cannot, indeed they eventually stop as no one gets out of here alive.

Each year as we from the Classic Rock era age, fewer and fewer famous musicians are still able to perform so. With multi member groups, it is common for members to slowly drop out and if so, there are often many relatively unknown musicians capable of filling in, learning their material and playing amazingly well. Audiences, especially those from a musicians era don't care if their faces no longer are as attractive nor bodies as fit looking, but rather can they bring back the music magic. There are quiet rumors McCartney and Starr may join them at times as well as other famous musicians.

Consider how long Frank Sinatra was at it. He died in 1998 at age 82 and played his last concert at age 79. Till 1993 at age 77 he still played to packed Las Vegas venues, the same age as Jagger. One might expect Jagger and the Stones are on their final large tour.

For Jagger, it is more than just playing as audiences expect him to move and dance too in ways few others of any age are capable of. That is because of decades of repetitive neural plasticity firmly wired into his motor brain. And according to recent news, yes Jagger at age 79 still dances and expect he regularly practices just as he has been doing in recent decades. In other words, Use It or Lose It!
