I never once mentioned the words horrid anywhere in any of my posts. Just before you called me out for having an opinion here, you called me out on another thread for apparently calling you a bully because I said I was feeling like part of the mean girls. It was how I was feeling and had nothing to do with you BUT I instantly apologized to both you and RaddishRose just in case I had inadvertently sounded like I threw you under the bus. I then instantly made a public apology and I thought we were good.
The time before that you made a jab at me for telling an online friend who joined the site that if she needed any help that I’d be willing to help her out.
It was a personal comment from one friend to another but you had to remind me that there are many members that she could ask since many have been here for many years but the CORRECT answer would be to ask Seabreeze or Matrix.
Then there is THIS discussion here about Princess Diana where I state right off the start that I don’t follow the Royals so don’t know much about them but I DO know that she was and still is one of the most beloved and adored women in the history of the world . The only people who didn’t think so were either privy to politics , that nobody either knew about , nor cared about OR they were stiff upper lipped cold hearted people and I STILL believe that.
So obviously you , Laurie and other people who don’t like her know inside info that none of us know or care to know which is EXACTLY what I said.
The point about ‘what the rest of the world thinks is none of anyone business,’ I think is absolutely outrageous!
Really? So now Laurie is going to tell the rest of the entire world that what they think and how they feel about Princess Diana is none of their business?
Well you are flat out wrong there.
You can’t tell me or anyone else who we can love and admire. That IS OUR BUSINESS!!!
And as far as that stiff upper lip attitude.
I am quite familiar with the term . Both my parents are stiff upper lip Brit’s which meant : children should be seen not heard, you don’t speak unless spoken to, no talking at the table, no talking back to your elders, no show of emotions because tears and sadness show weakness and you are to always stay strong. Public displays of affection and emotion are forbidden.
If one is naturally an emotional person then they are supposed to stuff all this emotion down and pretend. That’s called pretentiousness and most people don’t find it appealing or attractive. These days we are taught to embrace and love our authentic self. There was no room for that with some families and I don’t mean just the British but the British have been known to be pretentiously stuffy which is why the world loved Diana so much.. She was brave enough to just be herself ; even when her marriage fell apart she had the courage to address that with the entire world and she did it with style and grace.
Some people speculate that Diana knew all along that she was just chosen to be a surrogate mother and I certainly don’t know for certain but if a picture tells a 1,000 words , these pictures speak for themselves. 750 million tuned in to watch this love affair ( which of course was nobody’s business except for the British ?:shrug

She was in love. It showed .

It also showed when she discovered she had been cheated on. If she were merely in it for the role and popularity then would she look like this ? Of course not. She was heart broken and so was most of the rest of the world.

Donated all kinds of money to charities and people suffering with AIDs and HIV . Something most were appalled by yet she became world famous for helping change the stigma about HIV & AIDS and was known to shake hands with infected people without gloves . She had a way making people feel special.
She was also known to be an advocate for the removal of dangerous land mines , in 1997 actually walked through an active minefield in Angola and hosted a television special on the topic.
( I’ve never seen any of the other royals walk through mine fields. Just sayin’)
She sat on the board of the Royal Marsden Hospital which specializing in cancer treatment.
She spoke up candidly about her husband’s infidelity as well as her own struggles with bulimia, depression and self harm, raising public awareness of these conditions.
Can you imagine the courage this woman had to have to go against the Royals and speak the truth to the entire world.? She was one of the Royals who didn’t hide behind a Royal throne and the world loved her for it.
She also had paparazzi following her the entire time. I can’t even begin to imagine a life like that yet she shone. The pressure this woman was under was incredible and I personally think she did an incredible job of recreating herself and moving on after the divorce and the world STILL loved her.
She worked with Mother Teresa , Nelson Mandela, Pope John 11 and became good friends with Elton John.
To this day , Princess Diana is STILL remembered for helping others. She recommended that people should do a random act of kindness with no expectation of reward , safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same to you.
Princess Diana became the “people’s princess “ by becoming the first Royal in history to express empathy & warmth towards the common downtrodden people of the United Kingdom. She became the Royal Princess at a time when the world was petrified of AIDS / HIV and people were being shunned and isolated. She made a huge contribution to change this.
She used her resources and status to become a force for good in the world. She made the world pay attention to causes that actually mattered and did it with flying colours but according to Laura, this was nobody’s business. According to Laura, she just had a good pair of legs and knew how to use them. That’s not only insulting to Diana but is insulting to all women.

To me and millions of people throughout the world , Princess Diana kindness and compassion are legendary and what’s more important than that?
