I've seen what they are using to train for Whitehouse duty.. It's just a box shaped pretend house. There are no trees, or bushes. There is no grass. It is not realistically like the white house at all. I heard that this would all be helpful in training agents to face real life senarios.. and to deal with real life landscaping that could be used for cover.. Even the dogs are trained there and do not recognize the real White House grounds once they are assigned. So I don't think it's all that silly to want agents to have the best training to prepare them to protect the president.
Here's the present Secret Service training center for agents and dogs

“Right now we train on a parking lot, basically,” Clancy said. “We put up makeshift fences and walk off the distance between the fence at the White House and the actual house itself. We don’t have the bushes, we don’t have the fountains. We don’t get a realistic look at the White House. Even our canines, they’re responding on hard surfaces rather than grass. So we think it’s important to have a true replica.”
Too many tourists I would think. Imagine the panic it would cause if thousands of people didn't realize it was a training drill? At least that's what I would imagine the reason would be. I suppose they could do it at night, but remember.. There IS a family living there.
If these agents would just do their jobs and conduct themselves in a professional manner this foolishness wouldn't be necessary...
But just imagine the tourist dollars they could get from it if they do it the right way - put up a high wall around the entire compound, then charge people to watch the drills. They could put in bleachers, sell T-shirts, hot dogs and beer ...
And the family? They could always kick the VP out of the Naval Observatory and move in there - much nicer place, actually ...
Drinking, whoring, sleeping on the job, how will more training help with these?
They don't need additional training. Some of them need to be fired, but they will probably just be reassigned to guard the senior Bush...layful:
Has there been any big problem before these recent clowns came on duty? Methinks not...:sentimental:
