The Simple Stuff, Simple Pleasures

I think I get it now. There was a slogan that used to make me daffy "Keep It Simple"...but yeah that's it. " One Day at a Time" too...hum twelve step much? But really I finally get it. We can't project, I mean one of us could get squished by a cat food truck tomorrow. Not likely but you know what I'm sayin'...finding the simple stuff that gives us deep pleasure.

I ran loose in the garden department today. Gerbera daisies, a pink geranium, a bleeding heart plant, another bag of dirt. Not a lot but very pretty plants. Then realized the weeds, oh and the Burning Bush grew another ten feet since last week. Sweaty, dirty, then having to drag the hose around. But when you're all done it feels so very good!!!! I'll have to post more pics later.

I was already out there so time to clean the car too. I found the MP3 player and got down with my funky self and found the floor eventually. Cleaning is cathartic and the music makes it so much easier. Wait till you see the front yard now:D:D:D

"Don't sweat the small stuff" used to make me cringe a little.

I hear ya about the projection thing. Listening to the commentators predicting who may win the Preakness today, I just started laughing. They don't know. No one knows. Jerry Bailey should, since he's actually worked with baby horses. The 3yo's I've known -- those jockeys are doing good to get them all going in the same direction at the same time! Who wins -- as I think Walter Farley used to say? -- "It's anybody's horse race."

Life too, from our viewpoint, maybe.

Nothing like the garden department to lift your spirits. I spent the day laying more bricks for my Hosta bed. One brick at a time, sometimes not thinking of anything at all. Simple tasks help clear my mind. I hope all your plants grow for you. I love bleeding hearts. Can't wait to see your front yard!

I enjoy sitting on the sofa with one cat, rubbing her back, or standing at the sink with the other cat, letting the water run so she can drink from the faucet. These are things they enjoy and I enjoy being with them.

My Chii does the faucet thing, then I run her a cool cup of water. The rest drink from the dog bowls. But I do that too, an exercise in focus...especially with Mr. Foote. He tracks me all over to get some lovin'. Just for a few minutes you forget the rush you're in and give one kitty a serious massage. Good for you and good for him:D
