The Solstice a Conundrum

Today is the Solstice in many parts of the World,
here in the UK, it was at 3.37Am, Australia the
same time, but in your afternoon, the puzzle is
why did the USA have it yesterday afternoon,
you can't change the cycle of events in the Cosmos,
at least, I don't think that you can.

The UK is on the 0 Meridian and Australia and NZ
are opposite, in situation and time, the Americas
are after the 0 Meridian and before the International
Date Line.

So who has the correct date for the Solstice, the USA,
or the rest of the World?

Weather change. It is the culprit of so many things. Or at least a lot of people blame it for many things. 😜

All are dates and times correct and all are arbitrary simply because of an historic decision about where the line of zero longitude was decided to be. If the Chinese had determined that it passed through Xi'an, then the solstices would still occur at the same time as they do now, but we would be measuring time a bit differently.

Which happened to be exactly 3:27 A.M. UTC (this morning) on December 22 ... close to the time mentioned in the OP.

What exactly defines the winter solstice?

Is it merely an agreed upon time and not necessarily a physical event in the cosmos?

If the news didn't announce it would we miss it and would it matter?
 
Technical reason: It's when the sun reaches it's maximum declination south of the equator before starting to move back toward the Northern hemisphere .. thus, the seasons.

Non-technical: It looks to us on Earth like the sun sets later and rises higher in the sky each day now so early caveman started to figure out a kind of rough calendar and celebrate the suns return and warmer days.

Gee.. I feel quite exhausted now after that.
 
On the internet, if the news isn't false, it's otherwise construed to be more threatening to the everyday man than it really is.

This is to motivate consumerism or voter turnout.

The manipulation is nonstop.
