OMG...her little mountain village is destroyed.... ...the narrator is pronouncing the names of the villages wrongly..but no matter... My dd's village in Almogia (. al-mo-hee-ah) is just detroyed... My DD's friends are all stranded.. her home and kennels are being destroyed ..the dogs have had to be rescued.. the reservoir has burst it's banks ..her vetenary surgeon friends, clinic is flooded completely and they are stuck at the top of their 3 floor buidling watching everything being washed away...

Malaga city my favourite city in Spain is just heartbreaking to watch this..I'm actually in tears..

This is so terrifying for all these people losing their infrastructure. So sad.

Does your DD still own the property or did she sell when she came back to Britain?

long story..she still owns the land the property sits on...she sold the kennels and the Finca and casita.. but not the 5 acres of land...

fortunately the property sits on the highest part of the mountain 6 km's away from the village centre.. and altho' affected by the flood, causing landslides... not as much as the villages which are lower down

So sorry to hear this Holly. I feel so bad for her..😢

That’s a relief that her property is still secure. She must feel sick watching so much that she knew and loved being washed away.
well of course the new owners will not have seen anything like this in the time they've been there.. so this will come as a shock to them, but yes my DD tells me she's been in constant communication since yesterday with various friennds who live in and around the area ...one woman who has been recetly widowed, and now lives alone on the opposite side of the mountain to DD, had the police go up there yesterday and take drinking water for her she's totally stranded but she's refusing to leave..

To give you context this is the view from the Casita..and the view over the mountain from the front door..and the pool area . It's large enough that you cant tell that the trees are full size on the opposite track...and there's a deep steep mountain gulley leading from below the kennels to a river below.. you can't walk across to the opposite track, you have to drive all the way around the mountain for about 10 km's..

oooh yes she knows all of that area like the back of her hand.. she's more worried about her friends, and neighbours... who are currently all stranded in their homes. her veterinary best friend is stuck on the 3 floor of her building because her clinic and 2 floors below are flooded...

I can remember a 1975 flood here. Yes, floating cars in low-lying areas (over the roof depths in some places). River widened far beyond its banks, bridges overtopped. Homes filled to several feet above ground level.

We had another in 1986. I got hit by this and had a lot of basement bailing to do. Next door was a little downhill and they had water inside reaching 5 feet or more above their basement. The street in front of them was quite deep too, roadtop maybe 6 feet underwater. My house was an island.

None of us got a nickel or a moment of FEMA aid, not even repair loans.

I went along with a friend of mine down to North Carolina 2 weeks after the floods from Helene. He was hauling emergency foods, water and medical supplies and wanted someone to ride along, so I volunteered to go with him. He had asked in church for a volunteer and to my disbelief, no one offered to go along, so I told my wife, I was going to go.

The pictures of Almogia reminded me of what I saw in NC. I saw trucks actually being washed away. We were in this town called Spruce Pine and we saw an idiot trying to drive on a roadway with about 3 feet of water on it. He finally had to stop and climb on the roof until they could get to him in a boat. He was lucky someone saw him or he would have drowned.

The man I went with took a second load down, but his son went along that time. He didn’t even charge for the fuel he used. It was all charity. We stopped at a restaurant just before we exited the freeway. The waitress asked us where we were headed and when we told her where we were going she said we should be extra careful because a lot of animals are roaming looking for food and it’s very dangerous.

I sure felt bad for those people. Most of them lost everything, including their house. It made me feel fortunate that my home in Florida only got a little damage.

In 1957 I was on a US Navy ship in Majorca and we were ordered to go to Valencia and render aid to victims of flooding. Half way there that order was canceled, and we changed course to Gibraltar. Often wondered is the Valencia area subject to flooding often?
