The strange ufo noise from my backyard.

When I owned my house up north, I had about 3/4 acres to mow. One day as I was mowing I heard this strange humming sound whenever I stopped mowing. All I could think was that maybe something going on in the cornfield out back. I kept hearing it almost every time I would get near the backyard.

One day as I was listening to the weird sound, I decided I’m going to find out just what that sound was. Earlier in the year, I had built the grand kids a small tree house, complete with 2 tin cans and a string telephone. I had stretched it from the tree house to the playhouse on the ground.

So I’m standing there and a breeze came up and there....that sound again... o_O
Then the light bulb came on in my head. The wind was vibrating the string and I swear it sounded like a ufo engine. However they sound? Problem solved, and my back yard was not being invaded. True story.

Love the story, Paps! :)

Looking at Meander’s cartoon reminds me of a lady walking down the street talking on her mobile phone. It had been created from the handset from a phone booth.

My neighbor's TV antenna used to make a weird noise like that too. We had pretty much the same thing but ours never made a sound. It was because theirs wasn't put together very well and the wind would vibrate the aluminum tubes.

Every time my wife would vacuum the bedroom, she swore that she heard music. I would go in there would not hear anything!!

The next time she vacuumed, I followed her and found that when she bumped my dresser the music would play! I had a musical Christmas Tie stored in the bottom drawer!! LOL

THe tie in this picture.

I flew kites in the wind of North Carolina's Outer Banks in the 1960's, and the kite string made the same otherworldly "thrumming" sound that I remember to this day...
