The pandemic changed a lot in our lives. We have a grand daughter (2+years old) that lives 13 hours from us, and because we have restricted our travel, we have not seen the grand daughter for some time, but since my son is very tech savvy he has made it possible for My granddaughter to face time with me utilizing an Alexa type program and an I-pad located on a central desk in her play room. I get FaceTime calls from her a lot and with that we have have grown quite close. My name, early in her life, was Grandpa...since then my granddaughter has changed my name to Papaw.
When the pandemic started I was running short on razor refills and the wife thought I should grow a beard. I did. Since that time the wife has not wanted me to shave it off, so I have it yet. The granddaughter has grown to know me with the beard and is accustom to it.
The daughter in law sends us a lot of video's of our granddaughter doing and learning a host of things. One activity today was playing on a learning book that had voice commands. The book was a learning exercise in recognizing shapes, things and objects. The book played Christmas music and ask the granddaughter to locate certain images on the books face that were about 1" in diameter and button like. The music continued playing and said.. locate the Christmas Tree, she located the Christmas tree, pushed the button, received applause and lights flashed. The story and music continued on. We watched as the book or program ask her to locate bells, house, chimney, etc etc. Each time she got applause. Then finally the book asked her to locate Santa Claus. She scanned over the face of the book looking at all the images. No response. The book ask her the same question again, she continued to look, no response. My daughter in law said "you have to find Santa Clause. Do you see Santa Clause? The grand daughter continued to look but no response. My daughter pointing toward Santa Clause said who is that? The grand daughter put her finger below the button, and studied it for a bit then looked up at her mother and said.......Papaw!
Thankfully I got that on video, to me its priceless!
Sorry so long, but I thought many would enjoy my granddaughter's thoughts. A little bit of humor in todays world.....We need it.
