The topic of Salt and Pepper, do you tend to use them both on your meals, one or the other maybe?

What kind of salt and pepper shakers do you like to use?

Maybe you use a substitute salt?

Some like to grind their own pepper..

Anything about salt and pepper..

Neither.

I cook with spices (including black pepper sometimes), but not salt.

If something (e.g., deli meat or condiment) already contains salt, that's fine. But I never add it.

Too much salt is a turnoff. Many years ago, Kentucky Fried Chicken supposedly contained "11 secret herbs and spices." I believed that all 11 of them were salt.

Salt depends on what is being made. Could be sea salt, or typical iodized table salt. Pepper always fresh grind pepper corns. A long time ago bought 3 Krups 3oz. coffee bean & spice grinders. Perfect for grinding pepper corns, cinnamon sticks. & dried onion flakes.

I use the Sea Salt and occasional pepper...
Let's see.....

2 Tbsp Garlic Powder
1 Tbsp Onion Powder

1/2 Tbsp each:
Black pepper
Cayenne pepper
Savory
Sage
Thyme
Majoram
Parsley
Mace (or nutmeg)
Basil
Tumeric

Blend it all in a processor. Add substitutions if needed and/or make it your own.

I added the Tumeric. It's said to be good for you.
Sometimes I add dried lemon peel or lemon thyme.

Himalayan salt (fine & coarse), kosher sea salt, green whole peppercorn & black pepper (med & coarse grind, whole). I keep grinders for the Himalayan salt, green & black peppercorns.

I make my own seasoning salt, chicken seasoning, steak seasoning & taco seasonings.

Since I eat low carbs it is important to eat more salt and that is the one I like best.
Yes, as a low carber, I was given this advice too. But I just can't do it. If I developed symptoms, maybe I'd force myself.

Or I could buy salt tablets. Our father used to make us take those in the summer. (We lived in Ontario. As I've mentioned elsewhere, he seemed to think we were adults doing heavy labor.)

I've never used salt while cooking because there's so much sodium in most processed food. Not a big pepper fan, either. When I do want to season something with a salt flavor, I use Chef Paul Prudhomme's Magic Salt-Free Seasoning. Other than that, I cook with garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, and some wonderful spice mixes and seasonings.

Sea salt and I grind black pepper. Love herbs and spices. Use garlic powder and onion powder a lot.
Love fresh cilantro and use a lot of the mixed Italian herbs, Kansas City steak seasoning and copied the
"Fuddruckers" hamburger seasoning for use on ground beef.

I use both salt and pepper, primarily white peppercorns, pink Himalayan salt, and coarse kosher salt, along with a variety of other seasonings in cooking, too many to name.

These are the grinders I use...

oh I really like your grinders and salt cellars, nice they are :)

Salt, pepper or any other seasoning added to food at table before tasting is positively the worst imanginable insult to a cook.

It's like saying that you already know the cook didn't season it correctly.
I did not realize this at all, I just learned something~
