Theft At Walmart in Florida

I don't understand this. I 'm in Vancouver, Canada. I have been in Walmart, many, many times. First of all, if someone is stealing something, the stolen articles, by I guess, the scanning code will activate the gate( I don't know what you call it) and an alarm will go off. Many times this has happened. Sometimes, it was, like for me, my phone activated the alarm. Anyways I was stopped. Also I have seen people leaving who tried to steal stuff and who had already left the store and they had security going after them. Also if they were caught right at the gate, the Walmart greeters call another employee over to make sure that the person does not leave.

Their stock plummeted on 2/25/24. But I just read that this was a 3 for 1 stock split, so that would explain it. Although from what I am reading here and in many other reports, I don't know how they have managed to stay in business at all! But then again, stock price is not always an accurate measure of how the business is really doing.

Home Depot seems to have the same problem. The alarm goes off but no one seems to care. One of the staff told me they are not allowed to chase anybody. Bondo putty seems to be popular. They don't keep it on the shelf anymore. You have to ask for it and they walk you to the register. Years ago, they did have a guy at the door checking receipts, but not now.
