There Are Dogs...

...that help the disabled, that go into to battle and protect the soldiers under their watch, that do search and rescue over miles of debris, that can find human remains below water, that can detect explosives even different types of explosives, that will take a criminal down on command just for a chance to play with their favorite chewy toy...

Then there are dogs so dumb you wonder how they manage to feed themselves. Levon is a small cat and he figured out how to move a safety gate by a broken window and slip through the bottom. Both dogs will sit and whimper outside the screen door. The latch is busted, one claw swipe and they could open it.

Tonight I brought home a new cat toy. When it gets batted it chirps. I put it in the playpen and Foote had a blast. Then Sophie came barreling down. She has a wicked prey drive for squeaky sounds. I watched her as she listened to the chirps. She tried digging under the playpen, then back by the furnace, then back by the toolbox.

She was totally befuddled by where this sound was coming from. Only that she had to track it down and kill it. She finally shook her head and gave up, but it was funny to watch. Totally manic about a sound right in front of her, but helpless to figure out where it was. You love your special kids even more ya know?

I'm in tears with laughter, fur .. yep, it does make them even more special. They bring us so much joy with their goofiness.

I have a "Wild Weasel" toy. A ball (about the size of a baseball) with a fake-fur weasel attached to it.

Battery in the ball which makes it roll around on the floor. Dino watched it for a few seconds and then shied away from it.

Now I have control over Dino. If I don't
want him on a particular chair, I put the weasel there. He's scared of it! BWAAHAAHA!

He thinks he's a full grown Doberman Pincher, but we don't tell him otherwise.

He's too cute and lovable to do that. + He's the best watchdog we've ever had.

Wish I had his hearing. He can be fast asleep in the bedroom under the covers and if I open a cookie package in the kitchen,
he's there....faster than a speeding bullet....wagging his tail.

Good one Falcon...Sophie has that sonar cookie hearing too. But if someone broke in she'd be hiding. Callie would be right on it and scare the prowler witless...but he can't open a screen door or climb on the bed without assistance...dumb goofball.
