Come on in Debby.....we are of one....

We've driven across the Canadian border a couple of times in the past, beautiful country to visit...first choice to live if I ever decide to leave the United States (which is unlikely).

Canada and the U.S. are probably the closest thing to "compatible nations" anywhere on the planet. The trips we've taken to Canada make me wish I was wealthy enough to afford a Summer home in the Canadian Rockies, or Kenora, Ontario. It is a beautiful nation, and the people are the Best.

I know you folks particularly Canadians get a bit miffed if we call you all Americans.... I suppose it's a bit like Scotland and England..we're all Brits...but neither would like to be mistaken for the other..a Scot is a proud Scotsman and an Englishman is an...errrm...oh yes English.. :D

Here's part of the border between England and Scotland... :D

As HollyDolly has shown a border, yes there is a border for Scotland And one for Wales, but as we are all the UK, it's just a marker..... No border guards( yet!)

Canada and US are two distinctly separate countries, border crossing is no joke, bring your passport and documentation, and if that ain't enough, bring lots of money. I was interrogated and turned back at the US customs way back in 1970 before passports were even mandatory, for the simple reason that I wasn't bringing enough cash into the country. Those border customs officials can get pretty mean, much worse now.

I've been across the border from US to Canada several times an never questioned beyond the normal, do you have any firearms, etc....

I think Canadian customs officers have a very different attitude from the ones in the U.S. But of course, the U.S. has to be very careful, especially now, which understandably makes them tough and seem mean.

Never had a problem crossing the border either way. A couple of times I used a passport that had expired 10 years earlier. I believe it has probably tightened up since. Where you cross probably also makes a difference.
