These states and groups are not actors!

Are you as tired as I am of hearing analysts and pundits refer to states like Syria and groups like ISiS as actors? The death and destruction going on is serious business, not a play, and they should be called combatants, terrorists, insurgent groups, or anything but actors...

Ralphy, I honestly had not noticed that they were doing this but yes, I agree. I can think of a few other accurate names for them too.
