Thief Attacks Police At Gun Range, Gets Shot By Everyone

In my opinion this is nothing more than a reflection of gun owners in the USofA all too eager to shoot someone.

So grateful I am to call Canada my home.
The only weapon that I have ever seen was at a US Base here in the UK. The guard on the gate wore some huge pistol in a holster, John Wayne style. The only reason that I was there was because one of my delivery drivers had broken down. His van had been towed to our workshop and he needed a lift home.

That guard on the gate had completely forgotten any sort of protocol. The US airbase was, technically, US soil, but it was still on our tiny island so respect and courtesy might have been more productive than the big I am.

I've seen plenty armed police here in the UK..and also just about every security guard in Spain is armed...

So you're traumatized by a guard at a US military base wearing a pistol?

I guess that's understandable. I mean, there have never been any terror attacks in the UK, so why should guards be armed. Oh, wait...

In France, they carry large automatic weapons.
Here in Canada police carry submachine guns on Parliament Hill (Ottawa).

Where did traumatise get mentioned?

Exactly what protocol was "forgotten"?
How was the guard disrespectful?
How was the guard discourteous?

He's guarding a military base; of course he wears a gun whether John Wayne wore them in the movies or not.

why did you quote me ?...I didn't mention being traumatised....
Sorry Holly, for a minute there, I thought that I might be losing the plot, Easily done when you are vintage. Go back to, where is the bloody hashtag, are, there it is. Go back to #16 and you will see that I have managed to get your post in with JimBob1952. Neat trick because I haven't a clue how I did that.

Horseless Carriage was quoting me. And yes I did use that word. Of course I spelled it in the US fashion.

I don't see how a guard wearing a "huge" pistol (actually the standard US sidearm is a 9mm Beretta, I believe, which isn't particularly large) at a military base is disrespectful or discourteous, especially when there is a possibility of terrorist attacks.
