Things That Make Me Sad (Cry)

I am not a overly emotional guy but viewing on TV some of these bloodied, dusted children survivors of the bombings in Syria, and the St. Jude children with cancer, and now, the SPCA commercials of sick dogs & puppies. OK I understand it's that time of the year, but viewing several in a row really got to me and had me reaching for my checkbook through my tears.

Those ASPCA commercial always make me cry, I feel so sorry for abused animals and I have donated to the cause. I am overly emotional though, and I can get teary eyed at a wedding, game show, cute puppy or baby, happy and sad can bring a tear.

These ads are heartbreaking, especially at this time of year watching from our cosy homes with cupboards and freezers stocked with food, but it's best to check the charity before donating, as much of your money may be used to fund the luxurious lifestyle of corrupt rulers or pay a high percentage to 'charity' bosses

We may think we're helping by writing a cheque but it's a a futile gesture if the money doesn't actually help the victims of these terrible situations

I contribute to St. Jude Children's Hospital monthly ($19.00) using auto-pay. I also take a 25 pound of dog food and the same size bag of cat food to the local SPCA at Christmas time. I am a total believer in St. Jude and I have visited children in the hospital in Memphis on three separate occasions in my uniform. The kids love it as I sit with some of them and read with them.

We had a Trooper that was a Shriner and at Christmas time he would ask for a donation, which is against state policy, so those that wanted to contribute would hand him their donation in the parking lot.

Our SPCA allows people to walk the animals, mostly dogs, but first you have to go in and sign up and they will notify you of the days and times that are available. Every now and then I will call and walk the dogs. The SPCA is only about two miles from my home.

I have always been quick to shed some tears. My emotions stay on top. The things I get emotional over are stories of those who have come back for a war zone to surprise loved ones or children who are blessed with an awesome surprise or elderly who have something special happen to them. "Human interest" stories is what I believe they are referred to as.

I have given to HSUS, ASPCA, Defenders of Wildlife, All Animals Fund. Yes, the commercials are so sad. I think they are doing a great service for the animals. I do check them out, too.
