You sound wonderful and the song is great!Yes... I have used Ai's help when I'm stuck for a specific melody or soften my voice. This one song however is for the wife, so, I wanted it to be unfiltered me. Of course, I've got the start of a cold, so my runny nose and congestion has tightened my chest and altered my voice a little. (deeper I believe). I also wanted to use my friend "Dee's" garage band and my good friend Gordon who had access to a small recording/mixing studio. (can't name because, we weren't supposed to be using it).
All in all... I'm happy with the result.
I don't recall a time when being a Vietnam Veteran was fashionable, and really see that as insulting. I do object to politicians who fly a false flag to garner votes. You and I know lots of veterans who quietly live their life after their service. You got it.Takes a combat vet less than a minute to figure out the fakes.
B-2-3 199th infantry here. (and a couple of months in the 25th infantry). 11B and I've paid a heavy price.
Your wife is beautifulMan, you nailed it. It's extremely difficult to pack a lifetime into a song. Most people have no idea about the demons I've fought for over 50 years, or how I met the wife when she crawled out from under that 57 convertible. Then there was the 3 weeks we knew each other and then got married. Most said "it can't last", but, 54 years later... they were wrong.
Then, there's the long nights driving the motor home accross the country and how the radio fades out and while the wife and fur babies slept, I talked to my long gone buddy. I finally came to realize that this song is for my wife, so, slow tempo and hopefully clear lyrics. So, here goes.

Too bad you can't turn back the clock and ask her what she means by that. I'm sorry you still have this weighing on your mind so many years later......hugs.When I returned from Vietnam I hadn't driven a car for about a year and a half. For that reason I needed to obtain insurance when a bought a car after my discharge from the service. The agent asked why I was without insurance. My answer that I had just gotten home from Vietnam was met with a strange comment and unexpected respones. She looked at me and said, "Oh yes I can see that in your eyes".
To this day many decades later I feel insulted by her comment. There wasn't any Thank you for your service. What was she seeing in my eyes? Was it a baby killer, a murderer, or the blood gore and guts of the battlefield? I'm glad the atmosphere is better now for our returning service men and women, but I wonder if those who projected their negative views fifty years ago realize the impact they imparted on us.
Don't you ever sell or let someone else sing that song! We will Kick your hiney to the moon and back. No one will ever singMan, you nailed it. It's extremely difficult to pack a lifetime into a song.
