We played a different game of marbles. We would make five holes in the ground. One in the center with the other four evenly around the center hole. The distance around the holes varied, but far enough to make it challenging to shoot from hole to hole. To start the game we would 'bet' 2 or 3 marbles and place them in the center whole. The winner gets all these marbles. To win you have to get 'poison' by shooting around the wholes a designated number of times. Once poison, anyone one's marble you hit was out of the game. It was simple to play but hard to win...Marbles was a serious game for us kids
You got to keep whatever you shot outa the circle
We all had steelies for shooters
Had one just like it....255-6800.
But schools don't play Dodge-Ball anymore, right? We loved it...well, most of us did. Once in a while our teacher had to say "Throw to tag, not to injure."A few of these toys are still around. My kids and I used to play Cootie, and my son had one of those exact same water-drinking birds.
All three of my kids used to play Four Square on the playground at recess, too; that brought back memories! A nice, wholesome game. They also loved tetherball, and rode scooters.
No, unfortunately, I think dodge ball is no longer played. It's too bad, because I used to love it!But schools don't play Dodge-Ball anymore, right? We loved it...well, most of us did. Once in a while our teacher had to say "Throw to tag, not to injure."
We used to think it was funny to tell this big kid, whenever he got the ball, "Break a leg, Gil!"![]()
