Thinking about buying Kindle unlimited instead of buying book

Depending on which device you have need to use the correct E book format to read them.
Just out of interest for those that want to try ,you can Download the free Calibre program which enables you to read Ebooks on your PC or laptop,as I say "If want to?" Calibre Here.
Calibre is a program to manage your eBook collection. It acts as an e-library and also allows for format conversion, news feeds to eBook conversion, as well as e-book reader sync features and an integrated e-book viewer.

You can get almost any book on Kindle. I have a couple on mine that were written before 1900, and all of the old classics like Jane Eyre, and those books are also available, and sometimes in whole sets.
I think that I got the whole collection of Zane Grey books on Kindle for $1.99.

Also, you can do a search at the Kindle store for any topic, and see all of the available books.
So, for example, if you typed in “vegetarian”, you would first see the books with that in the title, and then similar ones, like vegan, or WFPB diet. It also shows which ones you can read with Kindle Unlimited, so I can check those out for free. You can follow authors that you are interested in, so you can read more of their books.

I also use the Overdrive library app, and get online books from there. However, their selection is much smaller than the Kindle Store, plus you have time lengths to return the book, and with Kindle Unlimited, you can keep books as long as you want them, provided you stay under 10 books.

Another thing that should be mentioned here, is called Prime Reading. If you have an Amazon Prime account, then it also includes the Prime Reading library, which is kind of a smaller version of Kindle Unlimited, but does not cost extra.
There is also Amazon First Reads, which gives you (free) a choice from several new books each month, and you can pick whichever one you want from the selection, and it is yours for free.

Thanks. Is there a big learning curve to use the Kindle ? Do you think the Kindle is the best way to go? I truly prefer real books, but out libraries are closed and the secondhand bookstore trade place I've always gone to is unsure whether they will even reopen at all. I'm running out of stuff to read and if I don't have anything to read I go nuts pretty quickly.

Butterfly Kindle E reader very easy to learn (Not like learning a new PC) , have attached small video which may help.
Also there are dozens of sites for free Ebooks, and of course the library, our library although closed could still obtain books online.
Latest books are also online to download for a small fee...good luck!

I have a kindle and while I sometimes struggle with how to work it, it is fairly easy. I have problem with reading a kindle book on my iPad. The iPad doesn’t seem to be on coordinated with the kindle so it’s hard to get the right page number.

Is there a book-kindle for dummies-lol.

There IS a great manual that explains everything a person needs to know about using a Kindle Fire tablet, and it is free to download from the Kindle Store. If this link does not work, just go to Amazon , and do a search for Kindle Fire manual, by Steve Weber.

I do not have any trouble with syncing between my Kindle Fire and my iPads, and I use either one for reading, depending on what the book is about. I get a little message box saying that I am “on page XXX with the Kindle and do I want to go to that page ?“

For regular “paperback” novels (no pictures), I like the small handling size of my 7” Kindle. If I am reading something that has pictures or diagrams (or need to take a screenshot of something), then I use my iPad which is larger and makes the pictures easier to zoom in on and see properly.
I also use Overdrive for library books, and I read those on my iPad.

Aneeda, I find when learning anything new is best to watch a video, and pause it when learning ,then try the procedure you have just watched on your device, and of course bookmark the link so can refer back...Link below.
